View Full Version : 1987 No Start HELP PLEASE

OK so this is the story got out of home depot started my car and shifted in reverse backed out of the stall and it died. rmp straight to zero. put in park and started it again and ran was able to get home brushed it of as nothing. later got in the car started up went down my court and in front of my house got out and sprayed brake cleaner on my brakes front only and car died. it has been stuck for two days need help to get it running replaced both fuel filters and the whole fuel pump unit, still stuck think its some sort of electrical issue anything???????

yes carb engine thought at first the brake cleaner messed with the f/a mix and killed it but yea try to start it reved up then died

yes its a honda accord 1987 lx 2.0 carb yea changed the fuel pump and both fuel filters after this happen thinking that it was that and no dice still not wanting to turn over

Since the Internal Combustion Engine was invented, this test has always been the same:

Check for Spark by removing one of the plugs. If so, a splash of gas down the throat of the carb to see if it fires or is flooded.

hey thanks for the help turns out after some testing and major headache it was a bad ground that caused this took for ever to find it though thanks for your in put and help

glad you got it fixed. Grounds are very important. sometimes the 20+ year old wires are no good and may need replacement.

For what it is worth, as many users here might have already done, buy a pair of ground cables from Walmart or any autoparts store and run them between the battery and frame and then the transmission and the frame. When I had my 3g, grounds were the least of my issues.
