A new dd for while the accord is under the knife

So as many of you know i got my hatch up and running just for a blown headgsket to creep up... while one broken part after another and a toy from mussleman came in the mail. it will not be drving anywhere for a while... come next tax seasson i will be build 2 new motors for the accord... one as a stock smog motor and another as a go fast turbo motor.


in the mean time i had to pick up a dd. and this is what i ended up with.

So i snagged up a 1994 Integra ls tonight


As for the Teg its Faded red with a few mods already done. need few things as well figured id try to get some pricing and such before i start buying off amazon and such...


4 things for sure i know it needs.

1st is a windshield, found a place local called speedy glass that has one installed at $200 with nation wide warranty and lifetime chip and scratch repair.

4th A catalytic converter there about 180 shipped off rockauto

those are the must have to drive to work...


the things it does already have.
full exhaust, headerse and muffler. not sure on brand but I know its there lol
It has a short ram intake. and a few brand new parts on the motor like the distributor and a few sensors and parts on the intake mani.

suspension. its lowered on some springs i haven't looked for a brand yet and has drilled and slotted rotors all around.... new tires on what looks like some 14" honda hx wheels
Short shifter as well.


Looks like 147k and some change.. Took it for smog today and it might have a gutted cat or a test pipe installed. But it would not pass as it stands.. We did a pre test at the smog shop. My buddys recommendation is a new cat so thats where i will start .. It runs smooth and idles well. I can fell it needs a transmission or motor mount but What 19 year old car doesn't lol

he also told me but i have not confirmed that the running lights are not working, could this be due to the front side marker being missing?
If not trouble shooting from what ive read is simple... fuse, bulb and the actual turn signal switch seem to be most offten the cuplerate...
but could it not being there at all knock out all the lights... he says brake lights them selves work and so do headlights.. i wont be able to test this till tonight to be sure.


turns out it was a fuse got them running again though.


Got some idle time work done while waiting for parts. The sound system from my accord was transplanted last night.. Kenwood 555u deck, polk db 5.25 front and rear, infinity 300w mono block and infinity 1062w 10" in a slot port box. And yes it has an alarm.. But i will be putting in a new one very soon.

Small teaser update i was going to swap the wheels from the accord to the teg last night but i passed out at like 7pm. Woke up about 2am went out front just to get some air and saw that my pops swapped then for me.

Got the Rad support pulled out tonight. Tied a rope to the support and tied the other end to my pops 87 Seville and just used brute force lol needs to come out about 1/8 of an inch but its good for now.

New windshield goes in tomorrow. And i ordered the cat today. Should be here friday or early next week. Will hopefully be legal on the road by the 31st.


Picked up 6 cans of heritage satin red sp some paper and tape so i can start masking the car off while the windshield is being replaced. Gotta stop and get some 800 grit sand paper hope this comes out good so i can see bye bye to the random black panels lol

Cool cars. Why does the caster look way odd on the teggy? I thought it was the angle of the one pic but then there is another pic it looks the same, wheel pushed back into fender, is there something missing on the bumper cover?

not sure on the caster... bumper cover is fucked though.... it was in a front end passenger side collision not super bad but i had top pull the rad support about an 1 or more out.

and just got done swapping out the test pipe for a ca regulated catalytic noticed a improvement in low end torque and now i should pass smog lol .

had an odd sound coming from the front end the last week or so figured it was axle or cv . but the sound wasn't a click more of a thump.... yesterday it got real bad.... like w/e it was had broke or came way loose. got home had my dad listen while i took it in front of the house he pops the hood looks at it cant tell, we jack it up and he plays around with the tire a bit and then notices it was really loose. and now missing a lug stud.. turns out 3 of the 4 were completely loose. including the one that is now missing. so i bought 16 new lug studs and ill be going at them in the next couple days....

Yikes! You can lose a wheel that way and then you either spend a bunch of money or scrap the car. Glad you found it before that happened.

ya but now i have to pull the hub or notch the knuckle in a place so i can swap the front lug studs. im leaning towards notching so if it happens in the future i wont have to pull the hub again.

A buddy of mine was driving down the freeway after getting his car out of the shop. He looked over to see a wheel bouncing down the road ahead of him before realizing that it was his wheel. By the time it was all over, what was left of his car sat in his garage for a few years before he finally scrapped it. :(

Just remember, if you hear a "cloppety, cloppety" noise while driving, check your lug nuts.

With regard to notching, it depends on the condition of your wheel bearings and ball joints. If they need to be replaced, then now is the time to do it. Pull the knuckle and replace it all at one go.

first off is a clutch kit and new flywheel. i was looking at clutchnet but I just cant see spending $650 for a stage 2 and 9lb flywheel... but I found a better deal

got everything back together. suspension still needs to be bolted back up and new wheel bearings pressed in. and one other hickup is the flange for the header to the cat is spaced to wide for both my stock cali carb legal cat and my test pipe. so were going to fan a sleeve up and weld it to the cat and then clamp it to the header.

got a new front bumper the other day form jc whitney got it for like 65 bucks shipped. killer deal even though its not oem .

also picked up some ebay black housings that and black corner lights. originally that had the halos in them but i took them apart and took those out immediately.

also go the the rest of the pass side pulled out, and had to order 2 new bumper stiffeners.. as one was missing from the accident and the other was bent a little.

valve cover looks fresh. i still need to redo the 3gees but that may happen when the engine gets replaced lol

i have some updates, started stripping and sanding body panels today gonna get it all prepped for a paint job i cant afford yet lol... so in the mean time im gonna dip it over the primer i lay down..... decided on red dip with a gold pearl top coat added.

going to be working on getting some dents puled and then shaving a few things like the water sprayers in the front and rear and the antenna gonna give it a good cleaning while all the parts are off still have to remove doors hatch and hood. gonna take this time to run my new speaker wires right and gonna build a nice finished floor in the trunk with a sunken sub .
then to tuck some wires up front and get rid of some i don't need. lots o f little things over the next couple months.

did some repair work on the rear bumper had a bunch of small indents form some one hitting it witht here bumper.

we used a epoxy putty stick or quick steel from harbor freight.

We also decided to fill in the integra logo as the fron replacemtn buper i got no longer has it.

Last post of the night I swear the final color fo the car is gonna be a matte red plastip dip with a radiant red pearl in clear dip top coat.

this is what the radiant red pearls look like...

the overall finish will be matte but will have the pearl shine to it

also got it all block sanded with 320 grit.. now just waiting till the 2nd of oct for more money to buy the welding gear we need to finish that then the premier surfacer is gonna get laid down and then sanded with 600 grit.

moved the teg to the side yard off the porch so we can spray the primer. decided to jsut keep the moldings and just plug the antenna hole with a 25mm grommet and put the trunk key lock back in. only thing i have to figure out is how to seal the rear washer nozzel on the roof and i have to get the driver side door skin tacked back in place it started to separate a while ago.

got the tarps all setup and we decided to shoot the fenders and filler panel . then we said f it and did the whole car. so primer surfacer is now sprayed. letting it dry till wed then block sand. then i should be buying the dip Tuesday the 16th. and hopefully getting it that Thursday or Friday

got some wet sanding done today. just the main body. the fenders and filler will get done Monday. then Tuesday I pick up the cans of dip and supply to thin it and we will thin it that night and shoot on Wed.

its not as clean as it looks lol lots of little dents that we fixed and some we could only somewhat fix. both of us are new to body work my buddie knows a little but this is the most extensive he has gone so really we are both learning as we go... as far as paint goes im not actually spraying paint we are doing plasti dip. but yes i have the full on plasti dip sprayer and will be shooting 2 gallons of flat red then 2 gallons of matte clear with a radiant red pearl added.

wet sanding has and always be the most tedious pain in the ass part of painting correctly. Guide coat was a god send in this area. Im not sure how well the dip will hold up mechanically and chemically over a primer substrate, typically the primers are porous to an extent. I would test it out on a small area first to see if they are compatible as a temporary top coat. Otherwise so far so good!

got the dip and supplys today got them mixed and ready to spray tomorrow. here are the colors first is a flat red for base. then the 2nd is a clear with a radiant red pearl added. letting the paint stirrer dry so we can see kinda what the Pearl is gonna look like.

so the wind and dirt got the better of me today. ruined my first try at dipping. luck only lost the 2 gallons of base red. but the next try will be with 4 gallons of base. also make sure all panels are the same color any dark spots show right through.

getting better, looks like your starting to get a better feel for spraying. I was gonna suggest bumping up the air pressure for the gun to help yah get rid of some peel but that wagner looking thing prolly does not have much adjustment. only thing at that point you can do is limit the amount of material being sprayed by adjusting how far you are from the panel or reduce the amount of material the gun puts out. i/m glad you went with a neutral primer color rather than some other people go with a white or some other color primer. Red is such a bastard with bleed through of the substrate its put on, black sealers or primers give reds a darker look and whites make it look pink-ish. As I said before i'm not really an advocate for using DIP, but i suppose there is a useful purpose here: learning some techniques and basics about spraying. overall good job dude, your over lap seems good ( no streaking / lines), my only suggestion is to nail down your techniques before the pearl coat, IT WILL highlight any imperfections. :thumbup:

It does scratch kinda easy, well the scratch show allot more. But should be an easy fix with a prevail sprayer or thinks rubbed in the area.

Thats pretty cool. Buzo had that figured out for 3gen clock fairly easy but took it further and made it display wideband o2 readings.

Northstar xspower or similar I will be going from my current 900rms 500 sub 400mids highs to close To 1600rms with 1200 for a new sub and a new 400x4 for the rest

yah that is a decent voltage drop, I've gotten many mixed reviews regarding usage of a capacitor for car audio systems. I agree adding a higher output alternator and a stout battery would be indefinitely be a wise choice. i'm just a little confused why the capacitor is considered a "band-aid", ive seen mixed views on this subject but i would still consider one based on the electrical research I do at work. I think many people do not match components and/or do not understand may be the primary issue here. I can see caps used in car audio systems easily having a capacitance over or under rated for the job they need to do. I look at dV/dT 's (change in volts over change in time) of charging and discharging curves, associated instantaneous maximum current ( I= CdV/dT and ), and wattage calculated from this.

I do like how you utilized the stock clock as a dvm. I would only have one suggestion, swap out that electrical tape and get yourself some epoxy and "pot" / dip / coat the circuitry that you want to be insulated. It will hold up very well!

I say band aid cause it does not fix the underlying issue. And that's my electrical I'm not running anywhere enough juice. I can out one on but it could actually turn out to be more of a stran on the alt even though the volt drop won't be as noticeable. Im furniture going to be getting an xspower d3100 agm battery and I may be getting a 135amp alt the battery alone should work but the alt would make it very strong.

bought a roll of 16.5ft rgb leds just got them in these will be cut into sections and will turn me into a ricer...... lol but really im putting them under the car for ambient light for car shows. and if they work out ill be doing them inside as well

ok got it all in and tuned and let me tell you its fn amazing lol . this 1 10 on 1200rms is putting down 140.4 db and 39 hrz its pritty loud for what it is.

anyways i have a bigger update.

i week ago my b18 took a crap on me we haven't figured out if it was hydro lock due to a blown head gasket or i throw a rod. but all i know is that motor is toast. so we got my spare b20 rebuild real fast nothing fancy just a upper and lower gasket kit and a water pump and timing belt the motor looked very healthy for what it is. had a little mishap on the water pump snapped a bolt off in the block then broke and extractor into a whole i made in the bolt and lets just say it is forever a part of the block now lol we did get it water tight with some gasket maker though.... anyways got the b18 pulled then got the b20 in and runnign took about 3 days total. then on our first test drive a whole showed up in the transmission so im currently on the hunt for a ls hydro trans case.

swapped out the old cheap short ram that came with the car for a dc sports short ram

also picked up a set of dc sports headers. they were used but i gave them a quick coat of paint.... got them for 30 bucks so i cant complain that a lil welding needs to happen.
there part number is for the 99-00si as well but they will work and get me passed smog. damn cali and there need for carb stickers.
