Is there anybody still hanging around here from the East Coast group that used to have meets 5-10 years ago? Marc, Rob, Steve, Travis, Maurice, Mike? I know I'm missing some people. I used to be a moderator on here and I was just curious if anyone was still hanging around. Was looking at some old pics of my 3g's and thought I'd check in on the forum.

Edit:
Damn, I didn't even see mike89's thread.

Hey! I believe there is a thread not too far buried that all of those have checked in. I actually was looking for some of your pics a few months back but they fell off your host and are gone from here.
Good to see you check in! Roodoo2, just reversed my sn :)

I'll have to see if I can dig some pics up, I stopped renewing my domain, moved all my pictures to a google

I check posts every now and then. I miss my 89 LXi, but I don't think I miss replacing parts. It was a hobby. I am in that stage of life in which I need more predictable transportation. Still, I am almost certain that the Accord will be the longest tenured vehicle I will have owned.

I'm still around, been crazy ever since my father passed away. Now working on the 94 f250 that was my fathers and my 86 cutlass 442 clone project (some of you east coast guys may remember them from an old E-town meet). I still got my 89 black hatch, just finished overhauling the brakes on it last week.

I didn't have the time nor money to convert to EFI, fuel pump, intake, injectors, lines etc. Locally, at a salvage yard I remember it was more than $500 for used parts.

Ahhh hell I might as well check in here too, lol....... I don't post a whole lot anymore but do browse from time to time. Still got the trusty old '89 LX-i..... still runs and drives like a dream at 437k. Also bought a 2007 Ford Edge SEL back in Nov 2012 for a "nice" car, since the Accord has definitely seen better days cosmetically, lol. I needed something a little bigger to haul my 3 dogs around in, and tow a trailer. I really like it though..... just wish it was manual. I still drive the Accord too though, and still love her. Still have my same bike too ('04 CBR 600 F4i) that I bought new back in '04..... just turned 274k miles and running like a dream

Glad to see some old familiar faces around! Hope everyone is doing well :)

Well alright, if you insist  This was actually from just the other day..... all the vehicles I currently own celebrating a little milestone..... as of this pic, the mileage totals of all 4 combined is exactly 1 million on the dot. The old 3g doesn't look so hot anymore.... northern car.... road salt... it's a battle that I've lost, unfortunately :( She needs a few things fixed but overall still very solid mechanically and runs great!

$200 for the car, delivered to my house, dropped in a $100 engine, about $200 in all new gaskets fluids, hoses, misc. Has Rendon's old suspension from his blue car, Integra wheels, Alpine deck with Bluetooth.

9525

Also still have the 89 LXi race car. The 84 Sedan and the 81 Hatch. Also an 87 Helix and a 2010 Fit.

Hi!!! I don't get here nearly as often as I should... but I get on Facebook even less.

Crazy my last post with my "new" red hatch was almost one year ago! I guess I built it somewhat properly, as I still drive it every day.

My only problem I've had with it is when I let someone else jack it up, it slipped off the jack and broke the radiator.

Then one of the main grounds broke. The ring terminal was crimped totally flat, which caused all of the copper strands to fatigue and break.

The transmission has been doing a fun grind noise when it goes into park since day 1. To avoid it, I start and stop the engine in neutral. I'm honestly surprised the transmission hasn't grenaded with me dailying this thing in Seattle traffic, and putting the pedal down hard.

Dr_Snooz
04-12-2020, 06:27 PM
I'm daily driving mine, for the most part. I need to do a lot of work on it, but none of it urgent. It's normal age-related stuff like replacing all the bushings, redoing the braking system and upgrading to coilovers. I alternate with the 4g, which is mine since Mom passed away in 2018. I'm finishing up a major service on the 4g, including timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment and oil pump. The 4g has the most extraordinary oil pump, which requires you to remove the timing belt and drop the oil pan to remove. The pump itself is integrated into the front of the engine block. It's a real Rube Goldberg contraption. Which is in keeping with the profoundly complicated balance shaft business that originated on this engine. The shafts require a separate timing belt and a lot of jitterbugging to keep them in phase with the cam come belt replacement time. What a dumb design, like most of this stupid car. The 3g had rotor on hub brakes, but then in 1990, they had the great idea to reverse that and go back to hub over rotors. Grrr.

The car knows I don't like it, which is why it fights me every time I attempt to work on it. This time, the studs on the exhaust manifold galled and broke off. So I bought a new one on eBay and waited a week to get it. Every time it's like that on this one.

Still, it's quiet, smooth and comfortable and has a double-wishbone suspension, so it handles great. Best of all, I can actually buy parts for it, unlike the 3g. It would be more fun if the engine didn't have low-oil pressure, low compression and a lot of blowby. Everything else is in pretty good shape, except for the body which seems to be covered in random bonks and scrapes.
