Hi, fiance has a 1998 Accord. We went to store and came back to car to find that the door will not open from outside or inside the car.

Apparently she said that she researched this a bit and found that this is a notorious problem with the Honda Accord? I'm not sure what she found specifically, but she said that she read that there is no way to open the door aside from cutting a hole in the door?

This is no bueno because we have a 1 1/2 yr old that she has to take everywhere... and not to mention she is also pregnant again at the moment , so she cant be sliding in through the window or other door.

Please, does anyone know about this problem? Is there another solution aside from cutting into the door

Notorious problem on 4G, 90-93. I've personally not seen it on later accords. But it's been a while since I've been in the game.

Jafir, any tips on how to go about fixing? How can I get the door open?

There was a TSB or servicenews post about drilling the latch in a certain place to free up whatever was stuck. The last one I saw was a 4 door 10 years or more ago, and we removed the trim on the B piller, cut an opening, and drilled out the strike plate from the back. Then we replace the strike plate, and latch assembly.

Before assuming it's the same problem though, I'd try to remove the door panel and make sure something didn't just come unhooked.

Thanks! Do you think that any of these 3 methods would be useful for me as an alternative to drilling the lock?

Thanks again for your help! I have no idea what I would do if I didn't have someone to point me in the right direction

I don't know if you're still working on this, but I had the same problem a couple months ago. My comments are near the end of the thread.
