Hello 3geez, it has been a while since I owned an accord. So I in the process of doing a head gasket on a20a1 and I wanted to know if it is difficult to rebuild the head myself or should I just take it to a machine shop and have them do it?

A complete overhaul requires a lot of specialized machine tools that aren't cheap or easy to use. Definitely take it to a machine shop. Putting a newly rebuilt head on an old block is not recommended, though, as it tends to cause excessive blowby. I'm not sure what your issue is, but if it's just some leaky valve guide seals (which is common), those can be replaced fairly easily.

have a machine shop do it. that is what they do. seeing you are from sacramento they should not charge more than 500 dollars for a full rebuild
