me and my friends like to have a Battle of the Beaters race... i have a 88 Accord DX and i lost to my buddy's 88 Civic Hatchback... ofcourse his car is abouit 500lbs lighter... so i know why i lost... but what can i do with a very very low budget to make my car faster... spare the fart cans and ricey shit... the only thing i did so far was put a "performance" air cleaner on the car... any ideas would be appreciated...

ACCEL COIL NEW WIRES NGK R PLUGS GAPPED TO .056 50 bucksopps damn caps.
Flip you air box cleaner lid and buy a dynomax muffler(not a fart can) with a 2.25 catback

how much will that all cost (excluding the exhaust...)

muffler is 32 bucks off www.summitracing.com
and the catback piping 2.25 mandrel bent will vary depending on the muffler shop(60-120). an accel coil is 32 wires vary NGK are good or crane cam or what ever between 20 - 150 for nology 8 bucks for the plugs. You could also get pacesetter black painted headers for 130 off www.nopi.com but the paint peels on them so they rust.

stickers are always a real cheap hp increase too. I think that big f'kin yellow and red Type R sticker crooked on the hood will give you 15hp at the wheels no problem.

i think the lighted exhaust tips actually give you more horses.

dont forget to change the blinker fluid also. i heard that if you fill it with authentic honda fluid, you gain 5-6 ponies right there...

i was originally gonna rice the car our past bad to make fun of all the rice i have seen before... like make mine a Accord DX Type-R Si STR GT or something... and the best ideal i had was to duck tape a coffee can to the left side of the rear bumper to make a fake dual exhaust... but then i remembered i would have to drive it.. hehe

Flip the lid and advance the timing. 2 free mods if you have a 10mm wrench. :D

Yeah, i have a dx also...i love it...i havent done anything to it yet except clear the blinkers in front and flip the lid, thats it. Not enough money to rice out the car when the wife dont work, ya know. so im in the same boat as you are. good luck! :)
