I need a more powerful alternator, isnt the 3g alternator only like 65 amps? I want like at least twice that. I am willing to pay for a hi output one also. does anyone know where I can get one, or send mine in to get them to rebuild it to high output?

thanks in advance

Noah

I will try this next weekend when I get paid. The only thing is I need the wiring maps for both so that I can splice a 4-pin connector from the junk yard and remove the 3 pin. I just dont know which of those pins is not applicable to carbs yet. Just to verify the sizes I will go to checker so I can measure the size on hole orientation.

My current one stops charging every so often. It used to do it just after starting and would cure it with a high rev. Now it started doing it say once in the middle of a 30 min drive too. The reving is starting to have trouble bringing it back. Belt, tension, and connections are good. I think maybe the brushes are gone. I have postponed this too long. Who knows, my demise might just be this coming week :crying: !!!

Oh, its the stereo that calls for the juicier alternator otherwise I would go stock. Checker and napa online listings say 80/85 amps.

This question has been asked and answered many times. But I don't think there has ever been any follow up on it. If you are serious about paying for a high output alt, go to http://www.mean-green.com/products/alternator.html
and contact them to see if they make one for our cars and how much they will cost. Then post your results and answer this question once and for all...

Peace out.

Sorry guys, mine is officially gone today. I got enough battery to go to the auto parts store down the road and come back to fix it in the moderately lit parking lot here at work. I guess I will not be peforming the 4th gen retrofit anymore.

I got a reman rewound by a guy who was on ebay selling some civic hi amp alts and it cost me like $140 ish and it put out like 130-140 amps. Ive had it for 6 mos running stock battery and a 1200w amp and I get minimal dimming, except the alt doesnt put out full power until like 2000 rpms, and it puts out next to nothing at idle, and starts to put out some decent amps at 1250- 1500 rpms. Other than that its been nice. Oh and the guy didtn need a core and there was no core charge.
