I had that problem now I use lucas oil additive and it keeps the oil thicker fixed that problem.

Its ur vaccum. Check the bleed valves in the air box. Their vaccum lines prevent ur ca from stalling. also, check to see if the idle knob unscrewed. I had the same problem when i had the carb. I boosted up my idle knob and tightened the AJC a lil to keep the idle low. Also check ur throttle cable tension.

Make sure it's not an overheating problem first, so check your coolant level... also check your oil level and avoid using oil additives when possible, instead swithc the oil to a heavier weight... so if it was 10w20 go to 10w 30

A20A1 is probably right... not just that stuff but check ur thermostat also... it could bee broken and causing ur car to stall and over heat.... that happened to mine a bit ago

i don't think running rich will make your car die ! it will give bad MPG and hesitation !
or it will stall all the time !

so i found out what was going on, it was running rich. last time i got a fill up i got a full tank of bad gas. my boy that i bought the car from used my car for a few days and fucked around with the carb. so now thati have good gas with some nos booster in it its running way rich.....i hope.....i still ahve not fixed it yet so i may be wrong but we will see

Why did you use octane booster?

High Octane makes it harder to ignite the fuel.
So if you are running rich you are increasing the chance that your car won't run.

Rich mixture is hard to burn, just like higher octane.

and if you don't have your ignition timing set right, you'll get bad performance/gasmilage.

Do you know what he did to the carb or tried to do... it's hard to mess up the carb without knowing where the screws are and how to adjust them. the only screws that are easy to get to, that will change fuel consumtion aside from a high idle is the float bowl setting. The A/F ratio screw is sealed off... you'd have to remove a lot of things to get to it.

Here's a question about tweaking the fuel mixture: Is it okay to do it myself as outlined by some of you guys? I thought one was not supposed to do it without a propane kit? And does it affect emissions stuff?

okay -- so that was two questions :-)

It will effect emissions... anytime you adjust the Air/Fuel ratio to a rich mixture you start polluting more.

Don't adjust the float screw on a whim... as you see in the pic below the float screw has 2 O-Rings... these O-Rings are easily broken... even when brand new.

If they break... you'll get a large fuel leak.

This is how to remove the float screw... if you happen to break an O-Ring before reading this post. :D
