opinions on this b16 b vtec engine block, is it junk?

hey guys i got a little side tracked from my 3g build. thought id throw this post in here as its not directly related to the accord.

i have rebuilt a 99 civic type r - JDM from a bare shell.

i picked up this engine block and im worried about these nicks on one of the cylinder bores... do you guys reckon it would cause problems if i run the engine with just a hone or is a rebore and over sized pistons needed? please dont say the block is junk. :(

Doesn't look promising. Might be a question for the machine shop though.

It all depends on how deep the nicks are. It's hard to tell from the picture but I would say it's going to need a rebore at least. If that still isn't enough it's possible sometimes to put in a cylinder sleeve. Although that may end up costing more than the block is worth.

The nicks do seem to be deep but like cygnus x-1 said, it's hard to tell from a picture. This is as least a re bore with over sized pistons
