When i first star my car up when its cold.
It runs at the higer RPM that its suppose to but it has
pop--pop--------pop--pop-pop noise in the exhaust
what do i need

-plugs?
-wires?

If you have a multimeter you can test the wires. They should have an impedence of no less than 25k ohm I think.

Pull the plugs and look at them. The electrode should be like a cylinder, not a half-sphere (worn) and tan-grey.

I'm too sure about the other stuff though.

depending on the length,...resistance should be around 200 ohms' every 150mm,about a hand width as a rough guestamitt.
move the lead around while testing it
check timing as BoredRec has suggested

i had this problem... ur car is runnin lean. i found a peice of fuel line that was crimped and i replaced that and it got a little better. i then put on my weber and all is well now. so i suggest cleaning ur carb and then making sure the fuel lines are not crimped. consider getting a weber. i did a tune up after i put the weber on and now it runs like a champ.

i don't think he means a back fire ! i had the same problem , my car used to do that when cold ! it was Air / Fuel mixture ! aduts the A/F mixture screw at the carb !
it's in the FAQ's !
