any trick to gasket removal?

Gasket on the T stat housing to the head is d shaped. Im soaking it in PB blaster to start but besides a cold chisel I don't have alotta hope. Its rock hard. Even with a screw driver nothings happening.

Have had really good luck with the 3M roll-lok bristle brushes or a 3" wire brush on a die grinder or surface prep tool. First step is some careful work with a single edge razor blade scraper to get it 80-90% then fire up the air tools.

Well Blue, I probably don't know anything you don't. If you don't have a proper gasket scraper, start with that. A putty knife might also be good. That's a tough spot to get into though. I've never had much trouble getting a rubber oring gasket off. Paper gaskets are the ones that give me fits. Do you have a pic of the problem?

What happened? Did your thermostat cover bolts fuse to the housing? That's what happened with mine.

Leaking. Im doing my clutch and noticed it leaking.

Its recessed gasket really an oring. I think i am going to try a propane torch on it and burn that baby out.
