MSD Ignition

i am so confused... what the hell is the red box do in the MSD ignition? is it like a new coil or somthin? i wanna get a MSD cuz i got headers carb and soon a cam. so what do the red boxes do and do i still need a coil?

it's an ignition amplifier. you still use a coil and everything. it just amplifies the spark, like a stereo amplifier. isn't it true that our stock ignition systems are fine untill you do serious serious engine work. from what i understand you really don't need to do any ingnition stuff unless you surpass the capabilities of the stock system or the stock system breaks.
