anyone out there with a carbed 87 lx able to find an exhaust system cheap and can go onto a carbed 87 lx 5/sp without it having to be modified in any way?

The only exhaust system that you can find for our cars is the pacesetter catback. But, you've been warned, it rusts and the worksmanship is not that good. But you can't beat that price.

I heard it doesn't offer any gains at all, so why waste the money?

I've got it. It offered some gains with my butt dyno. Noticeable but I don't recommend it.

if you went to an exhaust shop they can custom bend an exhaust....thats what i did with my civic ... it cost 300 for the piping and all the welding . plus i had to get a muffler

You could do what I did buy the pacesetter hate it then in a fit of rage cut off the muffler and weld a new one one (dynomax super turbo).

your not going to get much of a gain from any exhaust..the most power you may get is like 3-5 hp...it just sounds goood

well i think thats the main part of the exhaust systems, just the sound, the little 3-5 hp gain i wouldnt notice nor would i care.
i just think that chopping and modding our cars would lower the reliability ? or am i just skeptical and cheap

youd prolly be better off with a nice custom intake or somthing, ive heard nasty things about the pacesetters, and if you went the exaust route, youd prolly have to get new O2 sensor(s) if youre rough with them taking them out your old manifold, assuming you got a header

Well my ass dyno was much more impressed with the dynomax exhaust than pacesetter according to grassroots it is worth at least 3 more horse with crimp bent piping but I have mandrel.
