All through high school I made fun of my buddy who had a 1987 Accord LX, white, blacked out tail lights, AM vtech and all that nonsense and I laughed so hard at him each and every day because he was so enthused about his slick 4 door sedan(a true chick magnet.) Well I'm almost 19 now and I somehow ended up with an '86 accord from paps as a "graduation gift"...Gee thanks dad. Hell I couldn't even get the slick 87, I got stuck with a lousy 86. I could try and act all enthused about joining the community and being a life long member, but let's be real, I would sell that thing tomorrow for 800 bucks..... and I'll throw in a bag of pot. In all honesty, I pray to god I am only a member of these forums for a few months, but I'll try and be a happy camper while I'm here. Here's to leaning forward to get it past 90 and 25 year old speakers that sound like my grandma's record player.

Nobody ever reads these so I figured I'd just be blatantly honest. In all seriousness, I f***ed my trim while 4 wheeling(in the trusty accord of course) up to a bonfire in the woods. So i'm headed off to the right section hopefully and gonna see if I can somehow fix that before I lose the trim piece, wish me luck. Cheers!

You really need to drive the car more. These accord are one of the best accord generations ever made. In my opinion. Just give it some time youll fall in love. Welcome to the forum. Youre never leaving. :p

Oh I don't disagree at all, I've been driving it for a year and I've put well over 5,000 miles on it. I change the oil every 3k and keep it spotless. It's even the LXI 5spd model(aren't I lucky?)

You got the car for free and it is not a Geo Metro, Ford Aspire or Hyundai Accent. I would be pretty happy. I had to buy my own first car. If you kept this one through college you would save more money than you could imagine. You know there is no difference from '86-87, right?

I'm not sure what to make of that intro. Welcome, I guess. I too had to buy my own first car and I road my bike across town every day to earn the money to do it. My dad never bought me a car, but I did have to buy one for him after his wife totalled out the one he had. If I had been given a 3g for my first car, I would have been over the moon with joy (admittedly, they were new back then). You have been given one of the best cars ever made and you'll realize that someday. Hopefully you'll thank your dad when you do. You can sell it now with the pot, or continue beating it to pieces, but I'd encourage you to put the bong aside and take stock of how good you have it.

Good luck fixing it and let us know if you need help.

That's funny. My brother bought his first car from saving by working at Colorado Snow Boards (Now Ski and Golf) when he was 16.

He paid $600 for it in 1998. I think we sold it for $800.

Google the words > turbo a20 or > turbo 3G accord

Also, flip lights over all.
