I got my B20a in and running today. There are a few things to sort out yet. I have to sort out the gear linkage, bottom engine/tranny mount, rad fan and I have to make a exhaust up to fit due to the downpipes being differant from the A20a2 engine.

I have had it started today and it runs but couldnt run it long due to no exhaust.

I should be able to get it driveable in a day or two if the rain and bad weather holds off.

Can't drop a prelude engine in unless its the B20A from the JDM 84-87 (I think those are the years for the 2nd gen ludes)

I got most of the stuff done today. The downpipe is just a temp exhaust downpipe that I welded up but it will do for a while untill I can get a stainless one made for it.
It drives ok, even on the A20a2 carb, little hesitation but not much. Anyway I am going to have to run the engine in for a while so will have a weber on it by the time its run in.
Its so differant to have a 5speed instead of the auto.
I have to sort a few of the coolant pipes out too as it is not quite right somewhere (could even be a faulty thermostat) as it seems to be overcooling a little when driving. I am still using the temp sensor on the inlet so I am going to extend the wire and use the temp sensor on the head.

All in all I am very happy with it so far. (Ive only done 6 or 7 miles in it so far)

Yeah I bought my B20A at the beggining of last summer and I didn't even touch it yet..... money sucks.... Just to let you know, we've been on strike for 7 months now at work.......... so money is rare....

It just gives me more time to fully think about my project...... and hell, I got an EFI conversion working!!!!

if the engine in my girl car is carb then that means it is a 2 gen. and not a 3 gen. right

Good job on the conversion dude - I think i'm gonna keep my eye open for b20. After reading yk86 post (sweeet engine) i want an engine to play with and build up over time, have it in the living room beside the couch. lol

how much did it end up costing??

RCracer

My engine swap has cost me just over £800 GB so far but still needs a few things like.
Driiveshafts
Exhaust downpipe.
Carb (weber)
I also plan to replace all the ball joints/tie rod ends as they are all stating to get a bit old
I can see that the above will add another £400-£500 GB ontop of the above cost.
I have got just over 150miles on the B20a now

Ahh Cool... hmm does the manual trans have a vacuum line too?

I have one on my a20a3 and I'm not sure what it does... I've managed to remove all the efi parts and stick on the carb intake manifold and distributor side cam bearring. I just need the carb wire harness, distrisbutor and alternator... and maybe starter if thats different.

Damn!! I give ya props. I was woundering on how hard is it to get a b20 in. Like what must you change and modify to fint one in . Would ya think I can try for one in my '89 sedan. I might be able to get one cause my friend said he found one. Would it be worth it?

cool cool looken good did you use the a20a starter or something differnt

RCracer

A20A1 the B20a 5speed tranny I have has a vent pipe on the top of it but no other pipes or wires appart from the reversing lights.

BOLINKXR-89LXI I used the B20a starter that came with the car I took the engine from.

You can get away with useing the A20a alternator but it its quite tight to the chassis frame (because of the wider pully on the A20a) and the alternator mounting requires a little modification for the A20a alternator to fit.
