Hi guys,

I'm reuben and a few weeks ago we bought Joris' old 1986 Honda Accord Aerodeck as a daily runaround to pick up rare parts.

We are currently semi restoring it. The car needs to run at all the time so nothing major at the moment. Due to regulations in holland it's not allowed to be on the road on december, january and february so its the plan to get some new arches welded in and get it resprayed during that period.

The car itself and whats done to it at the moment (mods/options/service)

engine (a20a2)
-new sparkplugs
-new thermostat
-new fanswitch
-new coolant
-new waterpump
-custom muffler

Exterior/interior
-poor diy paint job (really need to fix that)
-amber/clear front indicators
-clear corners
-rear fog lights
-OEM radio

Next step is to change all oils, aero/turbo wheels, fix the power steering and get the car alligned properly

more probably, we've been catching up on some much needed TLC, but then again it's an old car :)

This is probably the most famous picture from when it still was Joris' car

Mmhm. :) one of my favourites. I have several others of it too. One of the extremely few Aeros I'd call modified tastefully.

What are your plans for colour and optional stuff ?

Welcome to the board! ... Always nice to see a good aerodeck getting some love. Colour is a bit bright, but it looks clean.

I think that's a great colour. I'd leave it pale blue if it was me.

Those wheels look great! What are the dimensions?

Why not go to an OEM colour ? I've never been a huge fan of custom colours on older cars... but hey - that's just me. :D

Here's a picture of my other Accord. The paint code is RP25P. It's metallic, and at night it looks black. But in the sun, it looks like this and changes depending on the angle you look at it. :) This is also an OEM Honda colour. Maybe it will suit your Aerodeck?

made some pictures of the car at a local ghost town. Due to new regulations the car needs to be stored away for three months each year so we are going to give it a small makeover :)

Why? The car is too old?

new regulations in holland since last year. All cars of 25 years and older used to be tax free, but people started importing lots of diesel mercedeses to drive around cheap. With the economic crisis in the background the government said that now only cars of 40 years and older are tax free, all cars between 40 years and 25 years old have to pay full road tax and insurance etc. (very expensive here) OR have to pay 25% road tax and insurance IF they are not on the road in december, january and february. Thats the rule in short here.

anyways, we do have the chance to work on it at the moment:

I love it. The economy is rotten, so let's raise taxes on poor people. That'll fix it. Apparently, you have the same bunch of geniuses running the show there as here.

Good work on the car, BTW.

haha yeah you know how it goes! In all fairness i do agree that some people abused the rules, but it really is a shame for classic car collectors with cars between the age of 25 and 40 as they now have to pay tax for all their cars. For me it just means i have the time to propely fix the car up as it would otherwise be on the road:)

A bit grave digging here, but couldn't resist it. Used to be mine before it was Joris' car, and also before it was blue. :)
It also has my old K-sports IIRC, I think you can see a bit of the K-sports-orange on the brake pad change picture.
