Ok, I have an '88 Lx (carbed, obviously) and it idles way too fast. I'm talkin about 1800-2000. It starts up fine and fast idles at about 2400, then after it warms up it will idle down to about 1500. After a couple miles of driving it will start idling at 1800-2000 and stay there. I took it to a Honda dealership and had them adjust the idle and they replaced the dashpot, but it ran really rough, then the idle eventually went back up after about 2 weeks. Just had a tune-up with new cap and rotor, too. Any suggestions on how to get the idle down and run right? (BTW, did a compression check on all cylinders and they're tight as a drum).:help:

ya man.. mine does the same thing.. and it pisses me off!!
I could drive all over the frickin place, and my chock has still not come off!!
sometimes when I go to school, i have to go on the highway for about 15-20km's.. cruising at 125-130km/h... and by the time i get to my school.. the fuckin thing is still reving at 2000rpm!!
so i rev the shit otta it like to 6 or 7k.. then finally it drops to 1k..

my friends dad works at a honda dealership, and he said its the heat sensor...if the heat sencor is worn and broken, the choke won't come off properly..

I agree with ACCORD EX, mine still does that after I accelerate hard and then stop for a light, my car idles higher - a good test is to put your foot under the accelerator and pull it up, see if idle drops to a good level then.

Thanks for all the help guys! The thought of a stuck throttle has crossed my mind, but my dumba$$ never thought to pull up on the gas pedal, I'll try that the next time I drive her.

ya.. it could be a sticking choke cable too..
mine has the same problem..and it pisses me off..
like today...i was stopped at an intersection, i was waiting for my idle to go down.. when suddenly, it dropped from 2000-1100, then went back up to 1800/2000 on it;s own....
then it never came off afer that..

but ya.. could be the cable, heat sensor, or some unloader thing..i was talkin to my friends dad..he said there is some kind of unloader somethin a rather.. can't remember..
could be a few things..
