So, my buddy just did an incredible wrap of his mustang door panels. Why he chose gold, I'll never understand. Anyways, I tried to give it a go to see how well I could do all on my own for my first ever attempt. First victim:drivers side rear door.

This is the interior door panel itself removed

Upper plastic removed via 8(IIRC) screws. Then it just pulls off

There are small tabs on the chrome window trim. There's tabs on the inside you can bend and get them off.

You should now have this

After a little heat from a hair dryer and gently molding the folds out of the corners/bends/edges etc. It became quite malleable when heated enough.

Yes, there are a few folds in it, but it's definitely only going to get better from here. Lol. Trial and error. Thought I'd see exactly what I thought after a week or two. Need to do the other 3 upper panels. Just without so much alcohol in me. That's really why the folds are in there. Too intoxicated to completely get all the folds out. Just experimenting though, but it's an option and I prefer it over painting the stuff. Opinions? Suggestions?

Not too familiar with how that particular fabric works but based on my previous experience with wrapping my door panels and stuff with vinyls, it helps to heat up the corners a little bit (not too much!) while having enough adhesive and simply stretch the vinyl around the corner on opposite direction. You gonna end up with smooth ends instead of those folds and wrinkles.

This is vinyl. 3D White Carbon Fiber vinyl. Looks like fabric though

Why he chose gold, I'll never understand.

Don't worry, he feels the same way about your purple.

I'm intrigued by your project, but need more info. What kind of material are you using? Where did you get it? How much did you get? How much did it cost? How did you prep your surface? Did you remove the old vinyl or simply glue over the top of it?

It is 3D Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap. Comes in white, red, yellow, black, blue, silver, gold and black/gold from the supplier I got it off of. Got it off eBay for $6.99 for a 12"×60" sheet. It's self adhesive with no glue required at all.
I prepped the surface by washing it in warm water and cleaning with dawn. I put this vinyl over the old. Gives more padding.

One 12"×60" is enough for both front doors and some extra or both rear doors and some extra. You'll need two sheets for all 4 doors.
