well i know that JBL makes some nice speakers, and so does INFINITY. try Kenwood or Pioneer for some cheaper speakerz. any thing will be an improvement over stock ones. they cost less than 1 dollar to make!

well the cheap stereo ones. not like the MONSOON GM ones or the MACH 1000 or 460 FORD stereo's but the stock bottom line stereo speakers do.

i would say get alpine.
look on ebay for deals. i got two pares for under $100 and i am pushing 50watts per channel into them and they sound very good.
JBL would be my next bet. i love JBL. they make nice stuff.

speakers, MB Quartz, Alpine, Infinity, and maybe kenwood(the exceleron or something).

sorry guys, but i have to agree, sony don't make good speakers. well, just my opinion. even the JBL's car speakers aren't as good quality as they should be.

pioneers, and kenwoods for cost limit. but if u get the lowest end stuff from them, it's just a basic replacement for stock speakers.

go infinity... www.justcarspeakers.com has new reference 6.5s for $94 i think... that's a decent deal...

you can look around on ebay and get good new speakers on the cheap... what happens is companies will buy out lots of equipment when a shop closes... most of the time it's bought for like a quarter on the dollar, so they can sell it off half price and still make a killing... that way you win, too...

the fosgate fanatic q 3 way components sound good, but you have to find somewhere to put the tweet and the high/mid for each side...

it's all up to what you like your music to sound like... my dad has 4 x-plod 6.5's from wal-mart in his nissan hardbody, paired with a pioneer deck, and that sucker POUNDS for for the $340 we have in the whole setup... we had a cheap recton amp powering two weak subs in his truck boxes (where his rear 6.5's are) and i hit like 130 dB with it... not bad for only about 120 watts RMS... sounds good and clear, too

well... i think all i did was confuse you more, so i'll just call this quits

Pioneer cheap? Not in Norway, and they give very good sound, I'll say; go for Alpine or pioneer 6,5" in front and 6*9" behind. For bass use 2 12" subwoofers...

Im thinkin Alpine, MB quart, Infinity or polk, ive heard all of them and they were all nice sounding. I have JBLs right now and hate them, and Ive had pioneers and wasnt fond of them either.

I had Infinity Reference all around in my 3g before it died and they are sweet. Didn't get the cash to amp them but they sound nice and are loud even just run off a receiver.

edit: btw I paid $58 for the 6x9's and $63 for the 5.25's shipped off eBay.

i'd say that pioneers cannot compete with MB Quartz in speaker sound quality. there's no way. MB Quartz sounds so freaking good. i'd even pick MB Quartz over virtually any other speaker company out there. their subs aren't too hot, but damn, speakers put out a fine ass sound. hook them up together with Phoenix gold Titaniums... holy muther... ur car is gonna be the best sounding machine on the streets.

For $200 you're not going to get MB Quartz or any of the German made speakers.

I'm currently running Infinity Kappas and Reference series speakers in my Honda without an external amplifier. The sound is crisp and clear. For $200 you're most likely going to get Kenwood, Infinity Reference, Pioneer or Sony speakers.

What I hate about stereo places is that they always attach their speakers to some of the best amps and receiver units. It's completely unrealistic to what you have in your car. For what it's worth, I think the Infinitey Reference give the best bang for the dollar. I've listend to the Sony X-Plod and with all due respect Nate, they are inferior to Infinity or Kenwood.

On another note, what do you guys have installed in your cars? No, I don't live close to any of you and I do not plan on breaking into your cars!!!:D

Elm's...I'm gonna have to disagree. I really like my Xplods, and they're just running off the head unit for now...they sound good being 3-ways...good highs and I just use my 2 10" JBLs to get the bass put out. It works for me, but need more power to the subs (only have 200w). Oh, I also have a Sony HU...I think it's the 650x or something like that....got some silver...I can't remember...:lol
