1986 accord hatchback lxi labeled as a BA5

well i was very surprised to see that on my title and also on the vin tag of my 86 accord it is labeled as a BA5 instead of a CA5, i was just curious if anyone else has heard of this happening before? im thinking it was a mistake during production and im wondering if it would be a rare occurrence?

According to this link (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Numbers_%28VIN_codes%29/Honda/VIN_Codes#1983_-_1986), it's valid. The CA coding didn't come into being until 1987. :dunno:

yeah i did some more looking up on it and it seems like the earlier chassis codes were kinda all over the place and didn't really take better classification until the later 80's.
