Re: new owner to 3g accords
Welcome! Nice car to start off with, you can put all the money you save on lawn mowers in to the car lol just kidding. Hey I thot grass was decriminalized out there...lol jk
I guess you know the whole fuel sys may need flushed out including carb bowl, old gas these days is bad stuff.
If the belt is just loose you can fix that without taking anything off, loosen the 12 mm bolt that holds the tensioner and turn the motor by hand a few turns to take up the slack then retighten. You can also set the belt the same way with just the top cam pully cover off, use the marks on cam pully and mark on the flywheel visable thru hole by starter/ right below dist. (TDC is scribed "T" mark thats not as visable as the painted marks)
Re: new owner to 3g accords
Welcome to the forum. Your car sure looks good. If you want to darken some of trim (side moldings) to get a more consistent black color, buy some Dupli-Color (or other brand) Trim paint in a spray can. Of course, if you paint the trim on the car, as I did, you need to carefully mask around it and cover the area around the trim so that no over-spray gets on it.

Re: new owner to 3g accords
Oh just remembered something the po also stated before it started over heating that the car kinda lost power as in he gave it gas and instead of going faster it was going slower he downshifted and it picked up speed but then bogged down again any issue with that? Fuel problem maybe ?

a bunch of things COULD happen depending on the extent of the overheating issue. From what your saying it could be a few problems causing the hesitation, but first two places i would look into is the fuel filer and the cat converter. usually with a clogged cat you won't be able to go faster than say 35mph, have no power , and will bog down. Best way to check the cat converter without removing it is to run the car and check the exhaust temperatures of the cat with a IR thermometer and the surrounding exhaust parts. If the cat has an excessive temperature difference chances are its clogged or on its way out.
Re: new owner to 3g accords

Re: new owner to 3g accords
And the timing belt has missing teeth that's why it wasn't cranking up I really hope the valves aren't messed up

Re: new owner to 3g accords
Welcome! If the car got hot and ran until it stopped, then I'd be doing a compression test first. Plan on putting that f23 in sooner rather than later.
Re: new owner to 3g accords
It's not a car I need running ASAP thank god I have my jeep and my Monte Carlo just wanted to get into Hondas again and with this. 3G being free and so clean figured it was worth grabbing buy wanted to drive it for a bit see how a 4 cyl carbed engine felt lol then soon fab up some mounts and do a boosted f23 swap
