Idea For Turbo Bottom Without $1000 drop compression Pistons

Iv been doing a little research and I finaly found a combo that i think should work. in the 88 accord the bore is 3.25 in. and the stroke is 3.58 in. In the 88 prelude the bore is 3.15 or something not that that is the part that matters. The stroke is 3.74 in. I figgure that is you swap out a accord crank into a prelude bottum that should get us the drop in compression we need or more. Will probaly have to deck the block or something becouse it might be to much. so yeah i think with that combo you should be able to get what ya need for turbo.

PLease tell me what you guys think that if this should work or not. Someone was saying that I would still burn up the pistons becouse there stock and that I would have to go with aftermarket one's I think other wise but well see.

I don't think it would, because the cranks are different in the cylinder spacing as well.

Since the stroke is greater you'll end up with even higher compression.

The aluminum block in the 88 prelude will likely have more distance between pistons than the iron block in the accord like DX R said.

isnt the twin carb 1.8 liter just a destroked 2 liter? use that crank and u will have less compression!

as for melting pistons, someone was saying up to like 7-9psi would be ok, but if you got forged pistons then 15psi is no sweat... :)

from what i have been told.

you could in thoery run cast pistons upto 40psi of boost but its not melt donw its stress thatll get ya. they start to crack over 10psi pretty much anytime you in boost.

The 1.8L prelude carbed engine is pretty much a 2.0 with a smaller bore, 3.15x3.58 as opposed to 3.25x3.58. The 88 prelude is 3.19x3.74 so if the bore spacing, journal diamters and all other dimensions match up then you could drop an accord crank into the 88 prelude motor and get a destroked motor in an 88 prelude. Getting that motor into the accord is entirely another matter. Besides custom pistons can be had for much less then $1000.

Where can I get cheap custom Pistons? and Im talking about the 2.0 Sohc prelude engine with the accord crank in it not a b20a if theres any confusion. They have sohc 2.0 preludes im pretty sure I know Iv seen them. But ya the cylender spacing may be off like you said. Ill just have to see if the damb thing can be put together or not. But I would like to hear more about there drop compression pistions please becouse there ant no way im paying $1000 for JE pistons to custom make me a set. Thank guys

The sohc prelude has an a20a. Its the same as an accord. Contact weisco<sp> I think they can do them for under $500 if im not mistaken.
