Automatic tranny

How much abuse can the honda automatic trannies take before they burn up or blow up? Can they take alot of power gained by engine mods or do they just die faster? My LX-i has an auto and ive burned out in it many times, brake-torqued it for a good launch when racing, driven it just plain out fast as it can go, and even dropped it into gear once just to see what itd do (that was dum, I know) and the thing just doesnt die, doesnt shift badly or burn up... Basically i want to know how much time i have with it before I have to switch to 5 speed
