Accord finally died

Well I've been telling everyone here about my problems with my '87 Accord, I bought it as a reliable work car....and its been everything BUT reliable. Well it finally left me sit for the upteenth time at my parents house, yup it yet ANOTHER carb problem. this time something went wrong with the accelerator pump circuit. Everything is there, the diaphram is ok but it just won't work. my guess is something is jammed in one of the ports, but even soaking it for a week in carb cleaner doesn't help. So after 6 months of leaving me sit the car is finally dead. Ok I can't even sell it now, and will have to get another work car this week. short of junking the car what are my options?? The motor itself purrs like a kitten, uses no oil, and the car is in nice condition. Weber convertions seem to be popular, are they worth it?? Unless the Weber makes a MASSIVE improvement in the reliability of this car I doubt I'll keep it. The thing is I just don't wanna throw another junky Keihen carb on it then sell it to someone knowing the car will leave them sit. Is the Weber a true bolt on deal?? Does the throttle linkage line up??

to me, i would say get a webber. Limits all ur vaccum lines, frees up some response due to vacuum losses and u will be satisfied with the cleaner look. I have seen it on Carls car (CARBurn) it was cleanest shit i have ever seen. Dont junk ur car man. Its just the carb, throw it out and get another one. Look at me, i crashed my car, but i still have it and not junked it, i am repairing it on my free time and bringing it back to how it was before.

Yeah, Weber is awesome, you run like...4 vacuum lines, all new choke and all the goodies. No more black box either.

i got a weber and it is great! I dont know where u live because u dont have it posted, but in Warm Weather it is sooo great... it works in the cold too, but not as smoothly as in the above zero weather... so get a Weber and drive the car!!! u will love the burst of power it gives

Short of a rebuild how about www.carburetorexchange.com haven't tried them myself,but they have a kiehnen carb of our type pictured on their homepage. Google features lots of Asian carb specialists under the kiehnen carb search flag. BTW, has th carb been rebuilt? Sorry about your unusual Hoda experience..don't give up yet

Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Weber conversion kit from Carbs.net. What's cool is they are on sale ($20 off) before christmas. I'm no Honda fan especially after owning this car, but lets face it the interior looks new, A/C blows ice cold, Heater kicks a$$, everything works even the power windows and locks and it gets good gas mileage. The motor burns no oil even though it has 160k miles on it. So I asked myself if the rest of the car is engineered that well it may turn out to be a good car if I eliminate the one major flaw (carb). I'd be hard pressed to find a better car for what I paid ($900) so I decided to give the old girl one last shot. Then its off to a dealer who will do the gas filler neck recall.

you should cancel your order and buy his. also, his linkage is pre-modified to run on the accord.

Dunno about that, since I'm in Eastern PA he's probably really close to me. I was kinda under the impression this "kit" gave me all the linkage I needed, in fact their web site says just that. Honestly I'm a VERY experienced auto mechanic + fabricator (you learn alot in 36 years) and the though of the convertion doesn't scare me- even if I have to fab up some linkage. Still I could always return it if the guy lives real close to me...........I'm in the Allentown area.

Personally I think the stock Keihin is OK. I have problems with my fast idle in cold weather (it stays on too long), but that's not so bad. I'm modifying the choke to a manual choke and it should fix the problem. I already did some mod to it and made it better but it could still be better so i need to change a couple more little things.

Anyway, if I was in your situation, I'd either get a rebuild kit or a junkyard carb. Both are like $25 around here.

Once rebuilt and/or altered, Keihins are pretty damn reliable for a long time.

But I'm not the kind of guy who wants to spend the hundreds of bucks on performance shit.

Anyway, you can keep this car running on a Keihin for much cheaper if you want to. It's not a total POS.

So u haven't done that, despite what ppl here on the board said. Well let me tell u, no matter what carb u put in, u will have the same problems cuz dirt and rust from filler pipe pass through any filter to the carb and clog all those fine jet passages. Maybe is not the car, just the man. What else.., good luck with ur Weber.

it does come with everything you need, but they give you a generic linkage set that you need to slightly modify to work with our throttle cable.
