lowering with stock struts

:help: ok, well i got my springs, and i want to lower my car, i know its not very smart if i am going to use stock struts, but i need this ASAP. Jim told me some ways to test my struts in order to see if there ok for the springs. The tests worked out ok, but i guess what im askin here is......how low is to low for my stock struts, and i carry around like 4 people everyday in my car, sooo what advise can any of you guys give me. Please feel free to be smartasses, i need to know.

keep in mind these springs go 1 - 3 inches. I think i want to go with 2 inch drop.

Your only going to be on stock struts for a short time,....right?

I wouldn't go to low, besides the bounce, your stock struts are going to have a real hard time keeping the you off your bump stops, going to low put's you closer to them. I don't even want to tell you less than 2". And you might need to carry a car full of people, OH BOY,...please get proper struts asap:wave:

Before a bunch of you start thinking running on stock struts is OK and that I'm saying it's OK,.......DON'T!

He's only going to be on stock struts for a short time and I made him fully aware as to WHY it should be a short time. It is NOT how to lower your car.

okthank you, i dont think im lowering it then, cause i have to many people in my car a day, i hate it, ill just wait to get struts. i am going to get the konis and the tokicos, the springs i got are dropzone...

but just for some people out there, can u tell me what are some decent struts for a minimum price, because i know some people out there dont have the money for the konis and tokicos set up??

ok i just got off of the phone with a friend, and i only have 450 dollars to spend, can you tell me what i can get in that price range that will support a 2 ich drop, and the stress of a few people in the car??????????

is it just me or have i heard this before? that tokico shocks kinda suck? i have been told before that they arent as good as say konis. i heard the tokico sometimes "blow out" pretty quick. maybe the guy who told me that didnt get adjustable one. i dont know.

I wouldnt even run tokicos in the back. If your running with 4 people in the car, the 'stiff' tokicos will quickly become bouncy tokicos. The stiff front konis paired with the lightly valved rear tokicos isnt a combination that I enjoy running on all the time. They are NOT matched in any way. I personally do not know why jim recommends this setup to anyone after running on it for months now. Having stiff front struts is great, but once your rear tires come up and hit the same bump, I'm left with that bouncy feeling that I dreaded with running 4 tokicos. Yes the ride is DRASTICALLY improved but id much rather have 4 konis anyway over top of front konis and rear tokicos. One of my rear tokicos I think is blown (its seeping black oil it looks like). Im not even running an extreme drop in the rear and I rarely ever have anyone in the back of my car. From normal wear and tear of a lowered car ,the tokicos have seemed to of met their match..their gonners.

Rear konis are in the future plans for sure, I wouldnt recommend tokicos at all, even for the rear. Its like sitting on a chair with soft springs (imagine the bounce) and sitting on a chair with stiff springs (Imagine the lack of bounce). Its the controlled ride the konis offer, its the feeling of a leaning uncontrolled cornering that the tokicos offer when matched with stuffer front konis.

Do it right the first time....screw the $, your going to spend it later anyway if you go with the wrong setup the first time.

There's no comparisson to 4 Koni's along with a good spring. You'll be amazed by how much "faster" your car feels.
