lost...completely

I got some dropzone lowering coilovers. They are adjustable to 4 inches. I went to put them on the other day, and something looked wrong. They looked about 4 inches shorter then my stock spring. I am not a suspension genius and do need some help.I was also going to try to set them on anyways, but my strut has a yellow looking rubber stopper(guessing thats what it is)on it and wont let me jack it up high enough. My dad said i need a special strut made for coilovers. Can somebody please help. If i need new struts, please include a link to where i could get them. THANKS

Coilover springs are much shorter then your stock springs..if they werent, how would they lower the car?

That stopped is called a bump stop......it makes it so you cant bottom out your suspension and harm your struts.

You have A LOT of learning to do before you start on a suspension project.

You do need a strut that can deal with how incredibely stiff those drop zone's are. Even the stiffest avaliable strut isn't going to have enough power to control them. What your dad is talking about with a strut made for coilovers is one that has that power and one that use's a shortened body. You can get Koni's from www.shox.com for $424 for a set. Have them sent back to Koni and have them revavled to handle 450lbs front spring rates and 350lbs rear spring rates, that will be a additional $110. If you plan on going lower than 2.25" you really should have Koni shorten the front struts to, I believe shortning the fronts would cost $60. And don't even think about trying Kyb GR-2's, Tokico H.P.s or Bilstein H.D.'s they are all weaker than the Koni's.

From what you said in your first post it sounds like you're trying to take you're struts apart with them still on the car. You need to remove the whole assemblies from the car, compress the spring with a spring compressor, and then take the big nut at the top of the shaft off. Everythign will then just slide off the shaft.

No i took it off completely, i took the whole strut off my car. I am not that stupid. i just couldnt get the like yellow bumper off the strut. How am i supposed to do that

That doesnt come off, that is part of your strut..leave it on there! New struts come with those too.
