Why is there nearly 5000 guests currently viewing the forum?

I just wanted to bring this up because I have gotten several errors recently due to the forum's session table being full. It happened several times this week and I have just gotten around to seeing how many people are viewing the forum, 4700 now and its showing the peak all time was a few days ago at over 12300. This might be some kind of DDoS attack, don't take this lightly, I don't think it is a fluke.

I am in the cybersecurity biz, so if the forum needs any help feel free to reach out, I am happy to assist free of charge.

I reached out to the site owner a couple days ago when I tried to log in and it kept kicking me out but never received a response. Joe is normally in top of things once we reach out but this seems like a different thing all together

I'm wondering if the site is being scraped, which is fine if it's for archival, but it's been going on for several days, I'd think it'd be done by now.

It seems odd if it's an attack, the amount of connections is quite variable and they aren't a hindrance until they fill the session table, the site is as responsive as always, so it's not even an effective DDoS. I'm curious as to why there is an arbitrary limit on the number of sessions, might be a hosting limit though.

I mean I've been posting videos on YT the last two weeks and put tags for 3geez and 3geezdotcom in the metadata to drive up the traffic but I know I'm not that popular from the analytics I'm seeing. Maybe 300 users but 5k is crazy. I think your definitely right but this is a admin/owner problem at this point. Hopefully they do something so it not all lost

Cloudflare reported more than 2x the traffic over the past month than usual. Besides the increased guest user count, the only thing I've been fighting is a spam registration wave. New users are being moderated currently, but the registrations seem to be slowing down.

I could close the forums completely to unregistered users, but there are some downsides. People can't get info without registering and search engines can't skim the site.

*edit* I tweaked some settings in Cloudflare related to bots and security levels. We'll see. I'm not an expert at this stuff.

All I know is, the site's been logging me out for at least a year now and I have to keep relogging in to post and it's pretty damn annoying.

Yeah I have that same problem when I use the web browser That's why I begin to use the tap top app it works much better than the web browser does but when the site was under attack a couple days ago it just kept kicking me out and kept giving us a weird error. At one point on Wednesday the site wasn't even coming up on Google or if you typed it into the search bar all together
