need some help with suspension

A couple of things, i would have ran a search but i didn't know what to look under.:confused: What is that hydraulic thing in side the springs. my back passanger side is leaking and it's starting to make my tire bounce a little bit when i hit a bump or something like that. I'm not much into lowering (dont konw if this lowers it or not) but I want a upgrade. Does koni make something? or is that for the spring only? I'm not much in a rush but i'd like to konw so i can start looking for places that sell it for a good price. Thanx peeps.

That leaky thing would be your strut that's blown. If you want stiffer struts you can get either the Tokico Blue struts (about $220 for all four) or the Koni struts which are much stiffer (about $424 for all four). If you're not planning on lowering, I'd say get the Tokicos since they're cheaper and konis seem overkill on stock springs. Maybe Jim can give better advice....

then again. if you are not looking to make your ride any harsher, you might just want to go with KYB, they are oem replacements....

struts arent that spendy when youre not buying konis!! lol

but i would prolly get tokicos, like alex said. that way youre a little better prepared should u ever decide to play with lowering, but you wont have a hard ride like you would with konis :)

btw i have a wierd setup right now, as i am not 100% done changing my suspension:

h&r springs in front / koni Struts
ground control coilovers in the back / tokico struts.

anyway as soon as i scrape toghether an extra $500 or so i plan on fixing my borken set of konis...

ANYWAY point of the story. my ride is pretty firm, my little sister bitches about it, but other than that i have had no complaints... i am in love with it, but i am also lowered...

Are you saying that your saving 500 to revalve the Set I gave you? Are you doing the front two or the whole set?

ok, that sounds good. If lowering would increase the stability and turning capabilities i wouldn't mind doing a couple of inches or fractions there of. WHen you mean stiffer like it doesn't absorb the bumps very well? Cause when mine used to work i could hit those speed bumps and not have a big problem. I think i might try those Tokico blue ones. Oem would be nice, but then again i dont mind putting on performance things so that it would last longer for normal driving. Thanks for those tips. I almost was going to get konis.

Koni's are way better for performance options, but I have stiffer springs and what not, and I'm set up for cornering, so I have a really stiff suspension set up. In your case, I'd say get the Tokico's, there less expensive and will take bumps better then koni's, plus you save like $200.

You want a upgraded sturt, and their no chance you'll lower the car. Tokico's $235 or better yet Bilstien H.D.'s $370. The Bilsteins have the added benefit, it you did choose to lower it all you'd do is sent them off to be revalved for what ever spring or coilover you went with and you'd be set.

Can't you get the konis revalved? Is it $370 for the set of shocks and struts?

Yes you can get the Koni's revalved, but the only way I'd pick the revalved koni's over revalved Bilstiens, is if you are dropping so low that you really should shorten the front strut bodies. Only the Koni's can be shortened (by the service center of course). Yes stock Bilsteins are $370 for the set. Now for god sakes, don't anyone use the Bilsteins on lowering springs, their to weak UNTIL THEY ARE REVALVED, use them on stock springs ONLY! This is the same manner that the tokico's are to weak for lowering springs. But you can't revalve tokico's

if i get the Toks, do i have to upgrade my springs or can i keep my old ones on there? or what should do about those period?

The Tokicos are designed to work with you stock springs. You only run into trouble when yoou try to use them for stiffer springs. You'll probably a slightly more responsive ride than before since the damping rate will be a little higher (shocks are about 15% 'stiffer').
