Need suggestions. After a dismal trip to the track last Friday, I need something to get my e.t.'s lower. It's pretty sad that I can't even get into the 17's. New clutch is on the way...but still need more.

hmm... this is tough. you have intake and exhaust already so $100 wont get you too far. anyone else know?
Well,
If all you have is a $100 maybe a basic tune up before the next outting to the track.. NEW plugs wires cap and check the timing maybe even advance it.. check the HOW TO's section for timing advance...
How-to? I don't need no stinkin' how-to! I'm mechanic, bish! Step off! Seriously tho, the only thing I really should do is to throw some new plugs at it. The cap, rotor and wires ain't that old, and the timing might in fact be already advanced one tooth (never verified it, but it does tend to ping alot).Quote:

i would buy me 2 new tires. but i would save up more and something like header, cams gears n shit...
Cam regrind... it's a little over budget... but thats muh choice.
I've seen a lot of posts on this, but haven't read much on it. So whats the best choice out there, and how much do I need to save up for one? And do they require the cam right away, or just the core after it's done?Quote:

Mike89accordlx should be able to help you with the cams from www.deltacams.com I'm not too sure on the fine details from them so I'll leave it up to the guys who would know.
I can get cams from Colt. The mild tri-flow grind with offset intake lobes (better performance than standard non-triflow grinds) will be about $170 or so including shipping by air (at the current exchange rate). You should see roughly a 12% increase with this cam. There's a 5 year warranty as well. Colt's also got a standard mild grind for about $155US inlcuding shipping. Roughly 8-10% increase with this cam. If I can send in your cam with someone elses, I can get a mini groupbuy discount. Unfortunately, the US dollar has dropped a bit lately. It was about $160 just a little while ago for the tri-flow.
Openloop also does regrinds as well. I am not sure if their prices have changed but it used to be $150US shipped.
Colt and Openloop require you to send in a core. But I can find you a core if you plan on buying from Colt (about $45US, but you won't have to send one up which usually costs about $25). Delta will send you a cam and when you send yours to them, you get a core charge refund.
Stickers, lots of stickers...:D
Well, with the mods you have in your car (according to you list of mods), it will be hard to break into the 17's. $100 really can't get you anything besides plugs and plug wires.
Or try running without your hood on?
you need more preformance decals, lol... did you knoe it give out more HP!!!
Well, I'm almost there. I'm sure once I get the clutch to stop slipping I can get into them.Quote:

So who here has gotten a Colt or Delta cam? I wanna hear your likes/dislikes with it. This will probably be my next mod.
I can personally say the colt cam triflow is worth every penny
Buy a teg tranny and swap out the gears. Thats if you have a five speed of course.
LESS WEIGHT!!
Best of all its FREE!!:D
I've got Openloop's cam and it's worth the price. Smooth idle and a noticable increase in power from about 3500 on to redline.

That's also a possibility. What kind of specs does Openloop have on their cam? How much would it run? And do they require the core right away, or can I wait till after the install (I have zero time for downtime...work too goddamn much)?Quote:

I have 2 spare cores
1 - EFI CAM
1 - CARB CAM
I've called delta cams and you can get a regrind from them for $59.60 +$10 for shipping.
yeah i agree... weight reduction can help a bit... :) and sticky tires too! my all season winter tires actually kept traction pretty good. better than my 17" bfgoodrich potenzas (dont know if they are good or not though! :P)
Oh really? I knew there were something wrong with those...Quote:

but I couldnt beat the price.. 70 bucks each from Les Shwab. I should have stuck with Falkens I was really pleased with those.
i like the wieght reduction idea and a tune up. if he's in the 18s i doubt that wheelspin is much of a problem so tires probably aren't a concern, especially with a bad clutch. and i wouldn't get a regrind until you have everything done you want intake/exhaust wise. a different header or modification to induction would change how they grind it.
good point grant. maybe try to track down a used paceseter header!
and of course a prelude tranny may help shave off those pesky tenths. but i am not sure how much better a lude tranny is over a stock lxi tranny. i havent ever understood a clear distinction between the two. :)
what size rims do you have
1 Kumho....lol :)
15's wrapped with Yokohama no grips. But it's ok, can't even break traction with the worn clutch.Quote:

I don't know how far I can go with weight reduction. I do hafta take my daughter around every once and a while, so it's not like I can get rid of the back seat.
If I get a header I want it to be DC Sport. Unless someone can tell me otherwise.
Still interested in the cam. Plus it's an excuse to adjust my valves again, tho they don't sound bad right now.
