Code 6 but no Check Eng Light??

My ecu is throwing a code 6 but no check engine light. I know that code 6 is coolant temp sensor. I redid the wiring for the sensor because wires were coroded. But now my check engine light comes on sometimes and throws this code. Sometimes it will throw the code but no check engine light. What could be the problem???

The codes are saved in the ecu. After a while of showing the engine light, it won't show again but the ecu still blinks the code. Try resetting the ecu.
