Bad Bearings? could this be the problem

well i have another idea of what is making my car shimmy slightly when i go fast. could it be that bearings? i was thinking of how when i have seen cars with bad ones, they sometimes do the same thing. should i replace them just incase? they are the originals i think. also, could it be my axel? i had it replaced last summer. maybe they installed it wrong. what yall think is making my front right side shake. i have a feeling i need the bearings replaced just because their old. i do wanna replace the ball joints too.

It's best to inspect your whole suspension and just change what needs changing as things can add up quick. The bearing costs roughly $50 and another $25 to get them pressed into the hub plus there's the labour to get it all out first. But if you feel better changing it (one less thng to worry about in the future) and/or can do it yourself, might be a good idea. For both 3rd gens, I found the bearing started to wear out around the 260,000-280,000km range (about 163,000-175,000miles).

my car only has about 88800 some miles. ill have to ask my friend cuz he had to replace his bearings in his suburban not too long ago. as for gettin em taken out and put in, i can get em done for roughly $20 U.S. do u know if i will need an alignment after its done?

Technically, yes you'll need an alignment since you have to take everything apart. I'm sure you don't need a new bearing with that kind of low mileage. Jack your car up, grab the tires on the sides, give it a shake and see if there's play. If there is, it's either the bearing or the tierod. Also check grabbing the top and bottom and shaking. If it moves, it's either the top or bottom balljoint or the bearing. It'll also start squeeking bad if it's the bearing.

changing the bearings in s a suburban is not like changing them in our cars. the suburban has the bearings and rotors as one assembl so he just changed his rotors, unless he had new bearings pressed into his old rotors, but either way it's not quite the same thing.

gettin the bearing out is not an easy thing ! they need to be pressed out and in ! :(
