4 infinity Refrence 12's with a Orion HCCA 275 G4 at about 1\2 an ohm. 2 power Caps, Boston Acoustics in the front doors and infinity Refrences in the Rear, With Kenwood Excelon 4Ch with a Clarion head unit, yes I must say I have a VERY VERY banging System. oh yah a optima Gell Cell bat.

Pogi, more subs does not necessarily mean more noise. I had two MB Quart PWD304's in a sealed box, and I was only putting out about 110 DB's. You ask me why? Because of the amount of air that you have in the box, and how much room for air. You can have all the subs you want, and power them however much you want, and it just might not beat my One 12 in a bandpass box. I put out 130 DB's with just 1 in the bandpass! I am not trying to bash on your system, I am just trying to tell you its not how many subs you have, its the box. But all around it sounds like a really nice setup. Power distribution sounds excellent. Speakers are high range quality, but MB Quart has always been the best! (Just my opinion) Well, thats what I got right in the Audio Components section of my signature. Read it if you feel like it. AGAIN: I AM NOT TRYING TO BASH YOUR SYSTEM SO DONT GET ALL DEFENSIVE ON ME! Thanks.

Bloodlust, I know Exactly what you mean, a PORTED box is going to Slam a Sealed box in SPL, but SQ the Sealed is going to win. I belive the 4th Order bandpass has better SQ but the Box has to be Made to the Speekers Specs, and what I herd making that box is damn near impossible to get all the Demensions right,
I want to compete is SPL, I was going to port the 4 12's but the air space for EACH sub is way to big and the combined port is huge! heh, so I had to go with Sealed, its in a shape of a Triangle where the point is flat.

heres my problem, the amp I have the Orion 275 g4 is a huge Red rocket (hahahah) monster, I cant mount it on the floor cause the box, I have it Screwed to the Side of the Box on the long back, I need to move it cause it Gets mighty hot,
Welll IMO 130 db isn't very impressive... I hit that with a single 12" sealed, with 220 watts.
You really like MB Quart? They have a very sibilant and harsh tweeter... you like that sound? Or do you have it EQ'd down...
MB Quarts are alright, I like Boston Acoustiks for Mids and highs.

Well the new MB Quart Reference Series has built in adjustable crossovers. You can make the treble less agressive, which I dont like to be too aggressive, so I turned them down a bit. But the drivers are outstanding. You havent heard MB Quart until you have heard their Reference series. They just came out and I was one of the first ones in my area to even see them. I will take pics of them tomorrow. And Pogi, I would be careful mounting that amp on the back of that box if it is carpeted, it might catch fire lol. Just kidding, I dont think you will have that problem. Sounds like a nice setup.
What kind of sub do you have that puts out 130 Db in a sealed box, and running 220 watts is simply impossible. :huh:Quote:

My Friend hit around 145Db's in his HCCA 12 with my Amp. and it was ported in a 96 eclipse.
It was an Onyx LS 12" prototype... they're in production now, I believe, for pretty cheap. I had it in a 1.8 cubic foot sealed box... it would have been louder if I had put it in a smaller box.Quote:

130 Db is just very easy to achieve... I am very sure I could design an enclosure to hit 140 db with 220 watts with just about any 10" or bigger woofer, provided I had something like an SUV to work with for space... enclosure plays 100X bigger role in determining volume (and transient response) than the power you give the speaker.

Yeah remember I didnt want to have my whole car a big giant speaker you know? I tried to make the box as small as possible without decreasing quality and Db rating. I would say for the box, the sub, and the amount of power I am running to it, it sounds pretty damn good. I havent actually tested it with a Db meter, I just went by what the box design software told me it would do. And it is true you can hit 130 Db fairly easy, but can you keep the sound quality up to a level where you think it is a sealed box? So many people who have heard my system ask me if I have like 3 12's back there. Trust me, you just have to hear it.
And remember, I only have an 89 accord, you cant put much in the trunk of one of them.
Well... if you were only hitting 110 with your other install I'd think something was up with your install... making ANYTHING car audio sound good is at least 75% install, 25% equipment...Quote:

I can very easily hit 130 while "keeping the sound quality up to a level where you think it is in a sealed box." It's possible to make ported boxes that have as good of sound quality as sealed boxes, you just have to know what you're doing. If you were in MN I'd let you hear my box I built for a sub I have coming soon... it's 4.2 cubic feet gross, so you can fit fairly big boxes in 89 accord's trunks...
When making sealed boxes, the smaller you make them, the more power the sub can handle, and the louder it gets, but it loses low-end extension and gains peaks in the middle of the lower octave. When you make the boxes bigger, you gain low-end extension, and it smooths out any peaks, but you lose power handling (however, the sub doesn't need as much power to produce equivalent output due to a gain in efficiency), and sometimes it won't be as loud. You just have to model your subs up with a modeling program to find the box size that's the best for you.
