I had a Viper alarm installed the yesterday and they guy told me since my door switch does activate my dome light when I open my door he could not install it so it goes off if someone gets into my car. None of my doors will set the dome light or even the dinging that I hear in other 3rd gens.....He told me to find out what the problem was and I would come back and he would hook it the rest of it up for free....How would I find out what the problem would be? where would I start?

When one of my door switches didn't work it turned out that the ground screw holding it on was loose.
where is the ground screw...the prob on mine is that they could not fully install with the door switches not coming on cause the alarm would think that the door is open all the time so it would go off when I set the alarm...So I am asking how do I figure out how to do this?
just take the door switches out, clean them off, and what i did when they wouldn't work was wrap some small wire around te post inside the switch because it can be worn right off (you'll see what i mean when you take it out. Anyway, once you'r grounds are fixed, just get buddy to hook it up to your dome light, and not each individual door switch.
The screw that holds the switch to the body is the switches' ground.
make sure that the switch on the domelight is on the middle position. If its not, then it wont come on when you open the doors. But he still shoulda been able to hook it up.

I tried it but some of the switches are kinda scketcy..I can barely move the switch in and the dome light starts to go off...Should I get a file or something and just grind away the little connectors so it gets a better connection? Is there something else I can do?
Clean them with a wire brush.
if you push the switch in, and it goes off, then whats the problem??? does the domelight come on when you open the door, and shut off when you close it???

I used stel wool to clean the contacts. Try that.
I used a dreaml drill or how ever you spell that.. It worked pretty good 2. I took a wire brush and brushed off all the stuff that was on the Ground screw so It would be clean...I hve another question, Hw much would it cost (rounding off) for a engine rebuild? Does it have a certain mile warranty?
Most rebuilds I've seen have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty (as long as it's not overheated). Sometimes for some extra you can get a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.
I would check the price on a low mileage Japanese engine before getting a rebuild though. Those engine should have virtually no wear and were probably put together better than your rebuild will be. All you'd need to do would be replace the old rubber seals.
My mechanic said it would be about 800 for a rebuild
800 is a pretty normal price. I've called around and its anywhere from 750-800 for a rebuild.
It's pretty cheap considering it will last for another 15 years
Holy Shit! I priced it here and it would be 1800 - 2000 depending if he engine is burning oil...Did you all price a complete rebuild?
You're right, I asked again and he wants $1500 for a rebuild (total). It would be the same price to have him put in a Japanese engine, too he said. About $700 for the engine and $800 for labor.
