Very weird problem

I was going down the road not running it hard at all and all of the sudden I get a loud loud back fire out from under the hood, the car cut off and I pulled over and had it towed home... I got it home and my 1st thought was the timing belt... I popped off the valve cover and it was still on but it was loose... Not terribly loose but its loose... There is a line coming from the fire wall and the hose is labled "fuel 6803" and I pulled that hose off thinking it was the fuel line and nothing was coming but there is gas coming the other direction shooting into that hose... Is that Normal? I still cant get the car to start, I dont know what the hell is wrong with it and I need help! So any reply's would be greatly appricated!

pull the timing belt off and check it

You may have stripped some teeth off the belt

OK I'm a dumbass, the coil wire came out of the distributer and I couldnt see it becuz it was dark.. Thanks for the help:stupid:

Yeah, it scared me but thank god it was just that.. Now it feels like something is loose in my front end...
