Basically, it runs on vent, but the air is not cold. It runs on A/C, but once again no cold air and not much push either. Is it the coolant or the pump....I really dont know. Any help would be appreciated.

does your fans and compressor turn on?
yes, I believe so.
If you have a sight glass on the receiver/dryer, look at it with the a/c on. If it looks foamy or you see bubbles then you are low on freon. Again make sure the fan by the radiator turns on when the a/c is on.
Ok, Ill give that a try. Thanks for the help.
compressor engages ??
does teh green lamp on the AC button gets on when you push it in ?
Mike !
When checking the sight glass on the dryer, rev the car to 2K RPM for 5-10 seconds to build up system pressure. After that, if it is bubly or foamy, try refilling the system. Better yet, have a shop check whether the systems holds vacuum. If it is not leaking, all you need to do is have the shop charge the system with R-12 (more expensive than R-134 but seems to be more efficient in our cars). My A/C wasn't cooling well and all it took was a slight recharge to get it back up to speed. Still ice cold.
I hope this helps.
How much is this gonna cost me???
It depends on what is wrong. Did you check the sight glass?
no, didnt feel like jackin my car up today.
You don't need to jack up the car. You can see the sight glass from opening the hood.
With the hood opened and standing in front of engine, look to your right toward the fender. About even with the power steering pump and behind the headlight is a cylinder with 2 lines going to it. This is the receiver/dryer. Between the 2 lines on top of the rec/dryer is a sight glass (if you have an R 12 system).
With the a/c on and engine at 1500 rpms for a while check the sight glass. If you are low on freon you will see bubbles or foam. If the sight glass is clear then you have enough freon.
Also check that the fans by the radiator come on when the a/c is turned on.
Ok, thanks for the help...Ill try this tommorow.
OK keep us posted on what you find.
