I hear a lot about having to make modifications to the throttle linkage, but no ones really saying what thats all about? So I guess thats my question? What sort of modification needs to happen to the throttle linkage when I am installing a new Weber 32/36 on my 86 Accord (Manual Tranny)??
basicly you need to drill a hole on the linkage that comes in the weber kit... there was a pic showing where to drill floating around the board but for some reason i can't find it.
I took a different approach and welded the KEIHIN throttle shaft and linkage to my weber... this got rid of a lot of problems. But then again I never bought a weber kit... I just bought a weber and then bought everything else seperately.
First step was to flatten out the linkage... the linkage you get has a sligh bend in it about where the hole should be drill, so it needs to be hammered flat.
Second is to mark where the hole needs to be drilled... reinstall the linkage if you need to double check. But basicly you put the hole as far from the cable bracket as possible and as low as possible... which is where the bend used to be.
also you need to make a second notch for the accel cable. Make notch is about halfway down the cable bracket. I have a pic of this.
If you find that the rotating cable end that connects to the linkage is loose in the hole you drilled, you should buy some washers to take up the slack. Put the washers on the outside of the linkage not the inside... if it's put on the inside the cable end may hit another part of the carb and get stuck.
The pic below shows the second knotch cut into the cable bracket so that the cable sits lower... and the cable comes out of the shaft horizontally instead of angled downward.

what is the purpose of modifying the linkage like this? why won't the stock kit linkage work?
I dunno, kit actualy says requires some linkage modification.
