I need to get a pic of it but man, i got it...and started filin some stuff(no dremel) to get it to fit and i think i filed the wrong spots and i have a bunch of holes now. i dunno...its pissin me off...i dunno if this made since but thats probly cuz i am really pissed off
that is why i never liked the civic adapter.
86 dodge lazer has very nice adapter. it will fit with very little mod. i had it fit on my old car.
it looked like it was made to fit.
the only problem was that only one bolt lighned up, so i had to come up with some kind idea to hold the other side of the adapter.
this one wasn't big enough so i had to file and filed the wrong places and now i might got the entire bottom out and JB Weld the bottom flat on there to make it fit just right.think this would work?
get a piece of tin... then rivit it to the bottom, and recut the base

weld it on to the adapter. i think i am going to cut the entire bottom off cuz its really funky shaped and placed the on the bottom as a replacement and cut the hole out and go from there. i should just weld it to the thick plastic on it right? or should i wrap it around and bend it over the screw holes then drill it and screw down in there to keep it there...i am ready for anything and everything so throw them ideas out here
You can't weld metal to plastic. If the hole is to big then I would just get a new one. If you can still use it I would go and buy a dremal. It is the most universal tool ever made.
i'm not gonna go get another one...no damn way...i got this one shipped here for $40 with all the air cleaner parts from the civic...i'm gonna make it work
just cut a large hole in the plastic with your dremel... then cut a larger piece of tin and screw it to the plastic

I think he means the JB chemical weld.
yessir...a20a1's got it correct...i'm not gonna do the actual welding...a guy at my dad's work is gonna do it with my oversight though so i make sure everything isn't totally f*cked up
WOO-HOO! I am the man. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell, I got a drill bit that is used to shave off plastic, wood, and something else. But i used that carefully and fit it onto it almost perfectly. used the file so it cleared the float screw(i guess thats what it is...yellow and a lil up and to the right of the carb opening) and made it where that went flush...then i used the door weatherstripping that had fallen off earlier and wrapped that around the opening under where the rubber gasket from the old one went...fits perfect with a lil cutting...then i check for leaks-none! so i put the lid on and of course it hit the top...i tore the box it came in apart and used that as the lid til i could get to the hardware store(a minute away) where my dad works part-time...i ran back to the back and got an 8" x 18" aluminum sheet and cut it in half with a hacksaw...i then drilled the holes for the screws in it and came home. i got home and placed the screws in the holes and started screwin in...it bend into place by itself...i then got a hammer and carefully hit the edges so it bent down...it fits absolutely perfect. i put the hood down and it latched perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUCCESS! i will get pics of it as soon as i clean the engine bay...man, it wasn't that hard. just a lot of time and patience to get it drilled just right...i drove it around and i can feel the difference. i need to get the piping and the filter now....i am currently using the tube from the civic and it puts the tube right behind my battery. it is filterless right now but i won't be driving it more than 2 miles right now...my dad is gonna bring home a small filter to place in the air box temporarily... :cheers: all i gotta do now is make it a real cai!
