It is clipped in through the metal. I think you may have to remove the door panels to get to the clips or you can take your chances and pop them off by prying on it but you will most likely break the clips. They are cheap to replace but the risk is uo to you.
yea i have an extra accord that i tryed to pull them of to see how they came off and they broke so if i wanted to paint the i would prolly just have to tape around them i guess. i guess that would look alright.
well if they brake you can always shave the doors and it will look a lot better...

i just took the side trims off and then use fiber glass and then some bondo and then sanded it off.
took off molding, ground paint out of the channel in the door for the molding, welded sheet metal in to cover the channel, skimmed with a few coats of filler and sanded into shape
here it is in the beginning after 1-3 coats of filler on the passenger side

it was fairly easy to do, just fairly frustrating at times, and i had to drive it while i worked on it
just tape it, i did and it was easy.
i taped it and it only took a couple hours...looks good too
yeah just tape it, I did it yesterday and it only took me about an hour and half. It really improves the look of your car. I was very satisfied.

They left the molding on the car and taped and newspapered off what they didn't want painted......!

The best way to get the trim off is to take your inner door panel off and use pliers to compress the clips. This is the only way you can probably get it off w/o breaking clips because they are very brittle from time and they dont slide out the way they were inteded from dirt build up. They are inteded to slide one direction to get them off from the exterior but it doesnt work well.
dont take the things off, the clips will break. Oh yea one other think, sand before you do it or else the paint will jsut slide off.i will have pics on my cardomain site if you want to see how i did it.

Ok I guess I am an odd person I actually like the trim on the car. Helps to protect from grocery carts & careless people's doors. Where can I order/buy more of these clips? And how much do they cost?
just to let you know, there is like some welded metal piece behind where the trim clips in on the door. i think all accords would be the same. if you ever do have problems with the clips breaking and you can get new ones, used double sided tape. i had to do that on my driver side door. i wasnt able to get new clips, so i cleaned the parts on the trim where the tape would be put on with rubbing alcohol, also cleaned the door where they would stick together well with the alcohol. havent had any problems since. its been over a year i think, not even separating! that might help someone.
If you break the clips just stick em back on with double sided tape.Quote:
