How difficult would this be?

I found a B16B engine. The thing says it has 118 lb-ft at 7500rpm and 185hp at 8200 rpm. Wouldn't the B16B engine be basically identical to a USDM B16A? It seems like someone could get 200hp out of it and leave it naturally aspirated and not have to screw with turbochargers and stuff. The B16B and B16A makes less torque than the A20 and does it at higher rpms. But how much heavier is our car than a 2000 civic si.

Would this be possible if I can get driveaxles made and engine mounts made? It looks like it might be easier than turbocharging my A20A3 and aftermarket parts are easier to get.

I had found a B16B as well pretty cheap but you have to look at the whole picture. In the end it will not be cheaper as the mounts, axles, harness, and what not will be a bit of money. This is why i went to the B20A because you can put the hardware money into upgrading your engine. Place Racing makes everything you need to do the swap but having done a Ls/vtec in a 89 accord its not really as bolt in of a swap as it seems. I HIGHLY recommed welding the rear and side mount in because a few people have had them rip out while driving. And they dont provide a adequate wiring diagram so 88Lxi68 had to work with what Juan found during his swap and use the accord manual to re-pin the factory harness. If you want to go this route i personally would stay away from the B16's because i dont think you will be happy with it in the end as far as power so i would stick to a B18 or better. On another negative note the PRI mounts create crazy vibration and i dont think the offer the low vibration erethane in our style mounts but i would ask if your seriously considering this. But if you do go this route you will have a ton of aftermarket parts available so there is a good side to the swap.

you can buy the new mounts, axels, wirring harness, and shifter linkages for about $1500 from place racing.

That engine is OBD-1. Prepare to convert your car to that or the engine to ODB-0. That makes the cost even more.

Oh yeah i forgot to mention that and i think the B16B's are OBD 2 but a place will make a custom conversion harness for even the accord. They run about $150 so its not that bad unless you convert to OBD-0 but if you can get the B16B ECU you might as well convert to OBD-2 (or what ever it is).

Yeah, they're OBD 1 or 2. Can't remember which but there are also 2 versions of OBD 2.

B16B is OBD-2 and comes out of the EK9 and it's the same engine as the B18cR.. It's destroked. The Blocks are indentical. It shares nothing w/ the B16a.
