You know the type... one's taller than the other, and that @##%@#! rod that keeps the float in the right place goes through both of them... let's say for grins I snapped that thing off. Would it be to my detriment to only have one leg supporting the float bar?

I was hoping that by some miracle, this would not be the answer. Well, I figured it was worth a shot doing a rebuild before I went and found another carburetor. Course, maybe I should just scrap the car at this point, ugh.
you can pull a top hat of a junk carb... I just snipped the retaining tab on the float so I could rotate the float out of the way of the vavle so I could remove the valve.. you can use hot metal to reheat the plastic and melt the parts together, sort of welding them.
I have a spare carb if you wanna try that. It's all together so you'd have to take it apart.
you snapped the metal... if you snapped the metal and no the plastic then you can just use epoxy and mesh the parts together... trouble is the float might cet caught up when moving up and down if the rod isn't level... only one post for the rod might cause some problems.
See, that's more like it. I was considering epoxy, but I wasn't sure what environment we were talking about, if anything the epoxy was exposed to would cause it to degrade. Hmmmm. We'll see what happens. If this doesn't work, we might possibly have an 89 DX 4-dr manual for parting out :P
well get that metal bonding putty (Quick Steel)... shave both ends of the metal down so you have a gap for the putty and then just remove the excess putty and let the whole thing harden... the quick steel is chemical resistant and I have used it with carbs and carb base plates and the gas does not affect it.

Here's where I make a joke about being wary taking carbs from a dude named "POS carb" heehee. If you've got a spare, I'll gladly take it off your hands. It's been a busy week and I haven't been able to get back to the work bench yet. If I can get this fixed, it'll save me the hassle of doing some more used car shopping. I picked up the Accord in August, I was hoping it would at least go for a year. (Yeah, it got by, and I'm the one who's broken it at this point, but still)Quote:
