I noticed that at accordcentral.com sean offers a stock rebuilt motor for $1375, i haven't been able to get a hold of sean and was wondering if anyone here has gotten this from sean and how is the performance? what exactly would i need to do?

I think this engine comes with a turbo....?
Thats just a rebuilt bottom end, with Eagle Rods, Diamond forged pistons, knife edged and balanced crank, etc... If you want to reliably run a turbo thats the way to go. He can install low compression turbo pistons, high compression or normal spec.

The rebuilt shortblock is not going provide a significant performance increase by itself (assuming the C/R is not changed). It provides a strong foundation for other performance mods that may otherwise destroy a stock short block.
You need to match up the short block with a turbo kit, or nitrous or other performance mods.
The performance difference depends on which way you want the engine built. If you want a N/A high compression engine, Sean can get it built for you. Want stock rebuilt? Can be done, too. Want a boostable low compression free flowing engine? Easily done.
Right now, Sean just finished moving into a new house, so everything is a bit slowed down; why he isn't on here much right now. Give him time, he will answer your email.
I was planning on eventually going turbo, not too long after i would do the engine rebuild. I'm hoping my 3G will run in the low 15's in the near future. I have about 1 grand saved up right now and can get another 1,000 in about 4 months. I know my hopes may be a little too high, but i'm earning a good 350 bucks a month and i don't have to pay any bills or anything like that so all my money will go to my 3geez's performance.
now i have to comparison shop and see if a rebuilt block would be cheaper than doing it myself...

Yeah, they are available. They are built on an per-order basis, he doesn't have them ready assembled b/c of cost overhead. So, if you put an order in, give him a couple weeks to get it filled and out to you.
it's gonna be awhile until i have enough money for one of those...

you don't need turbo to run in the low 15's.... I run in the mid 15's with out turbo... my upgrades are listed below.Quote:

depending on what your going for,always go with the setup thats right for the car and yourself,dont go crazy with 12.5:1 compression on a street motor,or 30p of boost....save that for the track.personally-10:1 comp with a nicely ported head a reground cam and a 75shot should prove plenty good,and 14sec 1/4mile times should be very easy

Modu03--> What else do you have done to go mid 15s?? There is no way in hell you are going 15s on short ram intake, pacesetter exhaust, heavy duty clutch (ACT), pacesetter ceramic coated header. I have one of the fastest accords with just bolt ons-and im not running 15s yet!! :wtf: Pacesetter shit sux!!!
it might be possible with a fully gutted hatch with nothing but one seat,but theres no way on a fully dressed hatch
oh 14's would be a peice of cake esp with a 75 shot. Try work on getting into 13's will be much more fun, more into V8 terrority. My friends 66 stang is running mid 13's and I told him he will get his ass handed to my by accord. He has been calling bullshit for a long time, but when I gave him a little trial with a 75 shot, he could tell I waszn't that far behind him. Give me a turbo and he will be finished. :DQuote:
