PGM-Fi Components identification

Could someone help us out here?
I havent got a bible that covers F.I.

What and where are these located and is there anything else?

O2 sensor?
ECU water temp?

Is there anything else that could be blamed for the car running to rich?

The O2 sensor is located on the exhaust manifold
The temp sensor is on the thermostat housing

intake manafold temp...cool air entering the sensor tell's the ecu the air is cool, so the ecu richen's the fuel mix.

ecu is under the drivers seat.

We dont have 02 sensors then?? because we have no sensors in the exhaust & no cat
We noticed the I.A.T. sensor was covered in crud from the PCV do you think that could be upsetting the ECU??
In more technical words would the o2 sensor be called the Lambda sensor?? << I would be on the same wavelength then.

Yes Civvy, a lambda sensor is an O2/Oxygen sensor. And you very well might not have one. In europe the accords/preludes only have a cat and oxygen sensor in some countries. In germany for example the accords didnt have a cat and O2 sensor in 86-87 but did have in 88-89. What engine are You working on? B20A1 or A20A4?

the car could be running too rich if you have a faulty fuel pressure regulator. and also a leaky injector could cause the ecu to get more fuel in and hence running rich on certain cylinders.

But usually if you have a O2 sensor, it takes care of it and i know u dont and someone else here had the same problem

You can easily convert it to a O2 sensor installed system since its more efficient and the parts are easility available around the junkyard or the next country over. I know russia has O2 sensors and i think Norway and Sweden did too. But u on a lonley island without any o2 sensors is just sad :kekeke:

Yes, some engines had another type of sensor which is called the IMA sensor. It was meant to control the fuel mixture instead of an O2 sensor. This sensor is usually located on the firewall and has a 4 wire connector.

I don't know if the Euro 2nd gen B20A lude had this tough. There is a testing procedure in the shop manual for that sensor. You can check the 3rd gen prelude shop manual. I have one here that describes how the IMA sensor works. Since it's basicaly the same different engine, the procedure should be the same.

Mmm, all i can think of is the injector resistor and the anti-stall thing that's not on the engine. I'm pretty sure if it werent for that anti-stall thing the engine would stall constantly.

anti stall? I never heard of that. Neither on A20's or B20's. What's that?

Its mounted on the strut tower infront of the vacuum box 2 pipes coming from it i remember one goes into the mani. it has a green electrical connector.

civvy the anti stall ur talking about is the Idle control solonoid valve.

i was looking at the shop manual and the model without the oxygen sensor is a KE model.

Yup, check if you have the idle mixture adjustment sensor (IMA sensor)

If you have that type of non O2 ECU, I REALLY suggest you switch over to the PK2 ECU at least... or a OBD-1 ECU.

You might need to change the intake manifold in this process tough... jsut get one of those B16A intakes.

Smurfguy....ure right..damn i've gota find a link to those online manuals, do u know if they do one for the B20?
Carotman....yes ive got an adjustment screw in the vacuum box, the guy at the test station apparently toyed with that when he had it on the emmisions tester and he said it didn't do anything/any good.
Yea i want to change to a B18 manifold (B16?) and to a mappable OBD1 but why you so keen on it over stock???
Another spanner in the workz is it has A/C and its been added as an afterthought its the Honda one but, becuase its got A/C its also got extra gadgets to adjust the idle when the A/C is switched on.
To make it easier weve tried disconnecting all the A/C extra's but to no avail.

what do i do with the air temp sensor. on the stock airbox if i put on an intake. do i have to worry.
