behind the gauge cluster...

You guys know that white "clip" on the back of the cluster itself?? It's held in by a gold screw. Does the speedo. cable (black) go through there? Or is it the gaggle of wires? There is a bundle of wires that I'm thinking routes through there. I can post a pic., but I think you guys probably know what I'm talking about. There's only one white, plastic clamp/clip back there. My car has been rigged so much that I'm not sure what goes through that adjustable piece. Does the speedo. cable go through anything, or just feed into the speedometer head? Thanks!

The speedo cable goes straight to the speedo itself. The "clip" is for holding the roll of cables but it makes taking out the gauges more of a pain in the ass next time around so I usually leave it unclipped.
