Yet another possible BODYKIT sticky thread

If you guys are looking for more modern bodykits and don't want to have to worry about so much bodywork to be done, I recommend http://www.AndysAutosport.com's 3gee bodykit. Don't be fooled by the eBay ones that use the same picture off that site.

I've seen their 2nd gen 84-87 Prelude and 3rd gen 88-91 Prelude kits on actual cars on Preludepower.com and they look top notch. So I'm sure the kit they have on there for the 86-89 Accord 3gee is the same fit quality. Not like the cheap eBay ones.

If you don't like that 3gee kit and want more choices you can go for 84-87 Prelude and 88-91 Prelude kits. The Prelude's lines are close enough and should flow well with the 3gee. I dunno if there is some work to be done or not to get them to look right but the 2nd and 3rd gen Prelude owners have been swapping bumpers between both gens of Preludes and the 3gee. So it's safe to assume the bumpers of these 3 cars are interchangeable.

It would be less of a hassle to work on fitting these kits than make one from scratch on your own like I did for mine. But as with any bodykit, it simply isn't bolt on, you need custom brackets to attach the kit. But it's nothing more than bending and cutting flat panel aluminum rods that you can get at any home improvement/hardware store and drilling holes for the bolts to go through. Also, the foam supports underneath the bumpers would either have to be trimmed or removed.

A few considerations though....

#1) If you have a sedan, the sedan will take a bit of cutting work on the 3rd gen Lude skirts for the rear door to open cus of the rear side scoop. Also, the tabs that go over the door sills might not fit. That was one major problem I had trying to fit 90-93 Accord side skirts. I had to cut them off and refiberglass new ones for 3gee door sills. In that case, use their 3gee sideskirts to save trouble. Make sure you tell them whether you have a sedan or 2 dr.
#2) If you have a hatch, the hatch's rear is short...I would use a 2nd gen Integra (90-93) rear for the hatch.
#3) If you take a look at the 3rd gen Lude kits, the 3rd gen Lude kits might need some cutting underneath the taillight area cus it raises up to the taillights. If you don't trust your skills and don't like to do any cutting, I'd recommend using the 2nd gen Lude rear. Also, 90-93 4gee Accord rears fit nicely too.


I hope this helps you guys out. Now it's up to you to fork out the $550-$600 + shipping charges you need for that kit!! Or you can wait till I make copies of my kit someday :)

me and grey87accorddx test fitted that front on the green car to my purple accord, it was so close it wasnt even funny. All that really needed to be done was trim up around the headlights and maybe some trimming on the sides. granted that was over the stock bumper so it probably needed more work than ive noted but still it was close.

They are selling pre-made kits from other manufacturers for our car. The Kaminari kit has been discontinued from what I hear. The other one is on ebay all the time.

also, i've heard from a few people that the kits that Andy's Autosports makes are pretty low quality. Their fiberglass work usually needs a ton of cleanup to finish it enough to put on your car.

that lude bumper on the last pic doesnt line up very well with the headlights -_-
not much does tho...
i dont see it as a problem on our cars tho

Usually hand-laid fiberglass kits reguire a bit of finishing before painting. Unlike Wings West kits which are usually done on a manufacturing line with machines and they use urethane instead of fiberglasss. You get what you pay for usually. The Wings West and other big name company kits usually run upwards of $1000+. Whereas a hand-laid fiberglass kit usually costs about 40-50% less.

Those have been posted before. or ones like those... but I think thy were located in AU or NZ. And the lude was orange or red.

The best thing about that last lude body kit is that its urethane. Thats why I like the Xenon kits so much. Urethane is a bit pricy but its worth it though.

well Iceman ill tell you what make me a kit like yours for my coupe and charge whatevers within reason. You figure Im looking at around 700 shipped for a xenon or whateer so lets start there. Im not sure on the dual exhaust thing though
