tire size
I see in the tire size sticky that the widest tire listed on there is a 215. is there any way to run a wider tire without rubbing and/or the tire sticking out the side? I ask this because it occurs to me that after a while better grip will be more benificial to a faster time than will more power. ex. If you peel out for 5 seconds you're loosing a lot of power that could be used to make your car go forwards.

Just get a sticky 215 tire? Toyo Proxes T1R is what Im after

widest you can take is a 215 with a higher offset rim but I don't know how full lock to lock clearance is with a 215. I didn't take the chance and kept 205 for me.

215 will fit no problem with 45 offset. You could run 225 but the trouble is finding wheels with enough offset.

the best thing to do is that if you wanna run 225s u should get atleast a 7.5 width rim, or even a 8. BUt with an offset around 48mm, its a lil too hard to find rims with 17" and a depth of 7.5 or 8" with a offset of 48mm. So u can get spacers if you want and run 40+mm rims to get the clearance you want. The major thing u have to do, is get the fenders out of the way, cause they will rub. But to be honest with you, a sticky ass 205 tire compared to a same 225 or 215 tire (on cost), u might have to go with 205 cause u get more what you paid for since the tire size goes up, so does the price, but the compound stays the same.

Rims.
at tirerack.com they have a 16x7 with a 48mm offset made by ASA the Js6 for $109 each but they weigh 20lbs each so thats gonna be alot of added weight with a tire included so if You can do a burnout with those on, holey crap beans I want your car. The rims Im getting are at Tirerack for Christmass for me are going to be the Kazera KZ-V thats 16x7 with 45mm offset weighing 16.3llbs costing $124 each  .

on a 17" wheel you will need a 7.5" or 8" rim, but you can run 225/45 on a 16x7 wheel, which is my plan.

you must be making a lot of power. a nice soft tire shouldn't spin too much.
