I cant remove it because I cant get the heat cover off, the bolts are stuck in there (10mm) and I cant get em out, I ended up stripped the heads on them after using penetrating oil. Now I have 2 bolts holding the manifold in place, bottom center.
I cant get at them because of the damn heat shield, what am I supposed to do?

it's awalys good to have b/c you'll awalys have stripped bolts.
take off the downpipe then reach the bolts from under the car. the bracket attatches to the block and to the header, so choose which set of bolts you are going to remove.
ive used the craftsman nut remover(hehehhe) and it worked great. i had trouble w/ removing a bolt on the manifold too. and i stripped it so i had to use the nut remover and it came out.
Well I just beat the crap out of it until it came out. But now Im having trouble removing the 2 bung things (EGR and.... something else). I had the top one of the 2 moving a little with a 15/16" wrench, but now its stuck again after about 3/4 full turns. I cant get at the other one with any other wrench.
Are those bungs neccesary? Can I just cut the tubes and plug them or do they have to be there? Im trying to get the header on, but Ive spent about an hour and half already just trying to get this damn manifold off
Fuck it, once again, siezed components hold me back. Arg, I even tried heating it since my last post. I put the manifold bolts back in. Go drive the damn thing off a cliff.
if you want your car to pass emissions i think you would need the egr and the other thing... i just had to turn the egr little by little until it came off... if it gets tough just screw it back in a little and spray some wd40 on it then go back at it.
Did you remove the radiator and condensor? those help give you leverage and a better angle on the nuts.
speaking of which, does anyone know where one can get new studs and bolts/spacers? heh..

With all the Hondas i've owned, i've never had a stuck or frozen bolt or nut with the exception of the damper fork carriage bolts. When I rebuild the head, the exhaust manifold nuts came off with little effort. My flexpipe came off the same way. My car had 230,000 miles on it when I did both of these. Is this normal to not have frozen bolts/ nuts?
My cat bolts were seized on the muffler side but on the header side they were fine.
Depends on where the car was driven, here in canada theres brutal winters and alot of salt. Plus 300k on the body/factory engine can cause it too
I live in Ohio and we have similar winters and use lots of salt and sand on the roads.
Well the EGR and whatever the other one is (ill look up right away) are both disabled because of the vacuum line removal I did. So if these remain stuck, I'm just gonna hack them off and seal up the ports on the manifold (if its neccesary)
