final choice on turbo gauges making order
ok so Im going to the pod rob used from a 88-91 crx that holds 3 2 inch gauges on the a-pillar. With that I need 3 gauges. Altimatly Id have the oil temp, oil pressure, E.G.T, boost, intake air temp, and probably a few more but with a 3 gauge pod im limited to 3 so which are THE most important?
Question 1 with the boost gauge do I want just a boost gauge and not a vac/boost gauge
question2 if I get either or both oil temp/pressure Id mount the senders at the oil filter base with a tee fitting. Is this a good enough location? seems to be to me
question3 with an e.g.t gauge would it be best to put it before or after the turbo. Ive got a log style manifold so its not really big or long. Im going to be using a wideband 02 so maybe I wont need this one.
all gauges that can be will be electric full sweep autometers. Obviously the boost and e.g.t would have to be mechanical but thats cool. the fewer the better.
It maybe an option to mount 2 additional gauges in the gauge cluster similar to the mstang style with them on the bottom corners. Only other thing would be a custom steering wheel cover with my wideband controller, boost controller, and 2 extra gauges mounted on the top where the hazard lights are. Im not into the gauges you cant see when driving so the passenger side above the glove box is out and the tape holder location is out.

yep agreed.
ill take a picture of my gauge mounting solution... i took the simple autometer triple gauge holder, (shaped like an 'L') and mounted it to my shifter console (i dont have the fancy tapeholder one), at a slight angle towards me. gauges are easily readable, and i just ran the wires underneath the carpet, so its a super clean installation. you could get cups too if you wanted it to be really stealth.
but the bracket is cheap, and you could EASILY make your own if you didnt want to spend money on an autometer solution.
also, where/how much did you get that CRX triple gauge pillar pod from? I have a double, but i could certainly benifit from a triple because i really want my wideband up there. :)
my current gauges:
boost/vac
a/f (will be replaced with wb display)
oil pressure
water temp
volt (i have alt and battery issues, and stereo, so this is helpful to me)
i would love to get EGT and oil temp gauges, i need a fuel pressure guage underhood, I think you can get addon gauges for AFPRs like the AEM...
but i just am running out of room to mount these things. i will have to do like sabz (i think) did and mount them to the side of the gauge cluster on that slant.... :)

if you can find one of those tape holder pieces that fit up against the bottom of the radio maby i can help you, if you look on my cardomain site at my interior pics,I have an altimeter there,but the same idea can be adapted to multiple 2 inch gauges. I would def want the oil temp gauge with a turbo,your oil can heat up fast,also i would put in an oil cooler for sure. as far as fuel pressure I use a norskog digtal gauge with a sender that mounts under the hood with the gauge on the drivers side door in a cup. there won't be enough room to mount a t at the old oil pressure sender, it's also bsp not npt,i answered a thread on here with where to get the adaptor. I'll look for it. best thing is to bring the line from th old sender location to the firewall,then t it in. I would use a warning light sender that comes on at a higher pressure vs. the factory 3-5 psi one. you can get them from summit in a variety of different pressures. I built a pressure manifold at the firewall for the sender and gauge it's on my site too if it gives you ideas.

well my wideband has the 1/4 din on it and they want like 250 for the round gauge so thats not going up there. Ill just mount that in the tape holder. After the tune and all Ill probably run in closed loop anyways so that would just be to watch more than anything. Im thinking boost, oil pressure, oil temp up on the a pillar. in the tape holder ill biuld a pod to hold the boost controller and wideband monitor since they are both 1/4 din and ill mount a voltage and egt gauge down there since they arent as critical more of a thing to watch.
I didnt see an oil adapter on those pages lostforawhile thanks though. From the oil fiter base I need to go to my turbo and my factory sendor plus an extra sensor for temp, pressure so Ive found one with 3 outs 1 in and that sounds promissing

well your temp sensor should have a weld on bung and it needs to go in the oil pan under the oil level,that link is on the last page,of that thread. the number and part number from msc. thats the adaptor that screws in where the sender goes now and converts it to 1/8 npt.heres the info from the other post. are you talking about sending oil to the turbo? you probably need a sandwitch adaptor then,if you do that you can run a cooler plus run pressurised oil to your turbo,but you won't get enough oil volume from just the adaptor plate. heres the info msc part number is 84433382 1/8 npt female to 1/8 bsp male this will screw into the sender hole on the engine and adapt to most kits. their number is 1-800-645-7270 the adaptor was like 5.45 somehing plus shipping

you can get one of the cheap 2 or 3 gauge pods on ebay, the dash style mounts. Either put in if front of your clock or under the CD player, etc. I put mine in place of the sun visor.
the vac/boost dosn't really madder, what ever your preference is. It could come in handy cause 90% of your daily drive will be under vacum, unless you drive like Billy every where. :slap:

also don't get the generic air fuel, your much better off with a wideband any day.

most wideband o2 sensors have an output for use with the ghey regular a/f gauges. Sounds like your sunpro unit sucks.

well I priced out the electric gauges and man what a difference in cost. For know Ill be running just the boost oil pressure and temp. Thats freakin 500 bucks in gauges. Man its like 1200 to get all the ones i want. oh well here gooes another grand i guess. Thats like number 12 or 13 now

yea I easy have 1K in gauges and I just went with Autometer's basic gauges, nothing fancy.

ok so im wanting to use the electric gauges but alot of small things have been missed and im thinking the machanical gauges. I really dont like the idea of having a live oil line inside my car anyplace it may be damaged by vibrations or such. It is however 1/3 price. anyway its either 150 for mechanicales or 750 for electrics. what does everyone think?

i've had mechanical oil lines in my cars for years never had a problem,the only thing you have to do is secure it good and with the nylon line that is used with most kits the only problem you have is heat by the engine. i would run 1/8 copper line from the engine put a couple of loops in it to absorb vibration,and run it to the firewall,you can run it all the way to the gauge if you like, just do the same thing with a couple of small loops near the gauge so you can install it eaisier. i just will never run the nylon line near the engine again, always copper where thesres lots of heat.

the tach was like $55
the triple pod was like 120 with everytrhning but i seen them cheeper
the triple pog gauges are a/f, volts, and vaccume. i got those cuz i am running a carbed setup non ecu with a custom wire harness
