heh, im just making sure cause i originally thought my intake manifold gasket was going to be metal(like the one on the engine i rebuilt at school), but it looked like paper

Are you sure you should be trying to replace a oil pan gasket...its not as easy as you think.
i wouldnt use anything but a honda gasket. Ive been down this road, and had to do a job 2x when i didnt. Trust me
i believe i was rebuilding a bonnevill or sometihng when i opened up the gasket kit and saw the metal gasket.
i was rebuilding a pontiac sunbird or something like that and the oil pan gasket was cork.
and yes, i know its not as easy as i think, but id rather do it myself as a learning expierence then pay someone else to do it
you can diy change the oil pan gasket but dont use anything but a honda gasket. Cork simply wont work
Cork gaskets are on them old school motors; 289, 350, 440, 454, 427, etc. Some gaskets look like there cork type, but actually are corked base with a polyurethane type coating around it.
If you don't use a Honda gasket, at least use Fel-pro. Making one yourself is not worth it. Save yourself the head-ache & have peace of mind of quality shit installed the first time around.
every V8 i've ever seen (lots) have had metal intake gaskets. in fact, the AMC 360 has a one piece metal intake gasket for both banks and a valley tray all in one.
....wow sorry its my birthday and i'm drunk....
I'll tell you from rebuilding the motor, it needs a rubber type oil pan gasket.
