1988 Steering wheel from a civic...

Fits our cars perfectly (hub wise our hubs bolts are 3/4 inch sockets) however you have to remove the surround from the top and the bottom. I'm glad i went to the j/y got this for $15 and the civic box for $10, also found some cash in the car $4 to be exact so it cost me $21 for both and i got my money's worth, i pulled the whole air assembly, (exluding the intake manifold) just incase i felt like i was getting jipped later...
EDIT: I also got the stock intake tube i was missing, off the car i got the fender off of, and the civic was a hatch btw.

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
so the consol around the steering wheel hub or w/e, is there going to be a cover? or is it just gonna be naked like that?
-
Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
yes for now, i dunno if the civic one will fit, i'll have to go back to the yard and get it... so we'll see...

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
yeah pretty much any honda or acura, and maybe the rover/sterling 825 and 827 steering wheels. i'm quite sure the wheel from the civic will fit. you should look for a prelude wheel. i think those look great, i used to have one on mine before i got a grant wheel.

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
yeah i know :( the civic had the piece you used for your insert i believe, you did get it off the wheels right?
Edit: BTW this is the wheel i really wanted glad i got it so cheap! :D

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
it makes the car look older heh
-
Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
IMO i like our stock steering wheel better....
but the prelude one's just seem like they might have a more padded wheel?
The prelude one's are great because you can wire up your cruise control to it (if you have it)

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
how bout an S2k wheel???
anyone think that would fit???
-
Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
i doubt that a lot newer steering wheels will fit our car. its possible though. S2000 wheel really wouldnt go well the old accord's interior. it'd be too rounded to match.

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
I'm going to the junkyard on friday to get me a lude steering wheel:).......
That looks pretty good though

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...

I think it would look good in our cars, its not that much different than most of the ones that you see people putting in there Accords now.

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
It looks nice, but I personally wouldn't have chosen that steering wheel. Mostly because it doesn't have the cruise controls for my LXi, plus, I'm a four spoke steering wheel fan. I just don't like the hand placement on the 2 or 3 spoke steering wheels. Just a personal preference though, and I do like the look of that one. So over all, nice find, but not for me.

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
whats wrong w/the hand placement?
-
Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
i found the prelude wheel to have perfect placement for you hands. 10 and 2, right where you're supposed to have your hands set. and on mine it was designed to be comfortable and had a shape to where your thumbs were accommodated so they dont become uncomfortable. great design, IMO. that's one reason i got it. my newer Grant wheel is very much like the prelude one also, has the ergonomic design so its comfortable. thats one reason why i went from the prelude wheel to the Grant.

Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
if i bought a quick release hub for this 'vic wheel could it work? i mean i know it'd work if i invested, but what hub should i get a grant one?
-
Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
I don't think it would work on a factory type wheel.
-
Re: 1988 Steering wheel from a civic...
I have lots of the 1-2 gen steerling wheels if peeps interested? How hard would it be to had a legend steering with that has SRS?
