4WS LXi?
my last car was an 89' lude Si and well i kinda threw a rod so it now needs a new motor. i replaced it with a rebuilt 88' accord LXi, which i enjoy driving way more. the only aspect that i miss about the lude was the 4WS, that damn car could stick any corner i put it into. i think it can be done and it shouldnt be all that hardcore. right? as long as i swap the front steering box, steering shaft, rear steering box, upper & lower rear control arms, hub and brake assembly, and all the brackets and hardware from the lude? Has this ever been done? any help would be awsome, thanks.

Re: 4WS LXi?
Where are you loc??? I'd say give it a shot if your up for it.... but like cke said alot of fabbing, but once you get cracking it just gets easier.....

Re: 4WS LXi?
im pretty sure the front suspension will fit a guy at preludepower did the front end but not the back

Re: 4WS LXi?
I'd guess it could be done, would take a lot of time, and a lot of work, but thats some damn ambitious thinking. I think it would be pretty cool, but IMO not worth the trouble

Re: 4WS LXi?
up here in poulsbo, kidnap (kitsap) county WA. ya i got the lude when i sold my 95' 3door hatch. get this, my buddy @ courtsey ford calls me up and asks me if i'd be interested in this 95' honda civic he just took in on trade from some navy dude and that he would sell it to me for $120. the catch being it wont go into gear but it runs good. so i kick it around and the next day agree to buy this mystery car and go pick it up w/a dolly from the navy yard parking on base. after the whole terrorist check point ordeal i get escorted to my new car. HOLY SHIT! not only was it clean and lowered on skunk 2 coils, shaved door handles, carbon hood, JDM projector lites, and integra gsr leather interior, this goddamn car was a rocket! 94' B18C1, DC sport 4-2-1 header, greddy cat back exaust, and to top it off a mugen chip't comp. $120... SCORE!!!. the prob w/ the tranny ended up being a broke selector arm, which i had welded by a friend. other than that and some bad gas in the tank this ride was complete. I ended up selling it to this kid for $3800 after i spent all last summer jammin about like a mofo. goddamn that car was fuckin fast! anyway i bought the lude with some of the $$ and my new accord as well.

Re: 4WS LXi?
If your really serious about doing it I own a auto fabrication shop in Bellingham I could help you out if your interested, send me some pics of the lude steering, and I'll check it out if you like

Re: 4WS LXi?
I knew you were from WA cuz kidnap county, thats why I asked....

Re: 4WS LXi?
some help would be awsome, i know how to fab somewhat but i dont have the tools and im sure there is still alot i could learn. i'll do what i can to get you some pics, i dont have a digital camera, but the chiltons for an 89' Si Prelude has all the nessary pics i believe. I do know this, the whole rear suspension setup has to be swapped, as well as the front steering box. the only major prob off the top of my head would be the placement of the drive shaft that runs the length of the car. in the lude there is a recess that it sits up in?!
-
Re: 4WS LXi?
that wouldn't be to hard to create a recess in the floor for that, its accualy sounds prtty simple...a lot of work but simple.

Re: 4WS LXi?
hey man, my accord is crunched preatty good on the right side behind the door and i was wondering what would be easier, pull as much of it as i can and bondo, or just cut it out and weld in a whole new right rear 1/4 panel. it looks like the door was hit to but was replaced. the door jam is knarly
-
Re: 4WS LXi?
I'd try to pull out the jamb, but depending on the quarter panel, I would replace it....but I saved my sisters Si from a quarter and that was 2000 dollars of damage...

Re: 4WS LXi?
yup thats what mine looks like only about 10 times worse. so since id be better off welding the 1/4 it would be a good time to shave the plastic mould strip as well huh?
-
Re: 4WS LXi?
Yeah, accually the car was worse than it looks its just not a great pic cuz the white car

Re: 4WS LXi?
dang now tha tis some skills...
oh and for the 4ws thing i think i remember one big difference on the steering racks, although it might not be a big deal. On the accord you disconect the shaft for your steering inside the car...but on the lude you have to disconnect it from out side...which means you'd have to cut a hole in your accord, or swap the shaft with your accord one... that's the biggest hang up that i can for see.. everything else is just a hammer and duct tape away from perfection.

Re: 4WS LXi?
I found a diferent angle..... It sat in about 2-3 over the tire, and its suposed to have about an inch of room between the well, and tire!(it does now)

Re: 4WS LXi?
The lude uses cable shift and the accord uses a rod shift. Which basically means that you dont have a lot of space to work with in that area on the accord opposed to the lude...
